How to reset the engine oil maintenance light on a 2019 Mazda CX-5

When the maintenance light illuminates on your dash, you can get more information by using the multi-information display screen in your Mazda CX-5. Use the “INFO” switch on the steering wheel to toggle the warning indication screen.
Note that a wrench symbol means that your CX-5 is due for regular maintenance, whereas an oil can symbol means that your Mazda is low on oil. If you see the oil can, pull over and wait five minutes before checking your oil level. Do not drive without sufficient oil!
Once you access the menu on your car’s MID, here’s what you need to know to reset the 2019 Mazda CX-5 oil maintenance light:
  • Select the “Applications” icon
  • Go to “Vehicle Status Monitor
  • Navigate to “Maintenance” and then “Oil Change
  • Select “Reset
Your maintenance light should go off once you select “Reset.” If you go to an auto shop for an oil change, the technician may take care of this step for you.
It’s very important to pay attention to the warning lights. If you don’t respond to and reset them, your car won’t be able to properly track how often you should get an oil change. If the maintenance light or the oil can symbol appears again—even after you’ve taken care of the issue—you may need to call your Mazda dealer for help.
