2015 Buick Encore engine oil capacity

Let’s start with the big question: what’s the engine oil capacity of a 2015 Buick Encore?
The oil capacity of a 2015 Buick Encore is 6 quarts or 5.6 liters. In other words, your car will need 6 quarts of oil each time it has an
oil change
.
Just don’t get your engine oil capacity confused with your engine’s displacement, the 1.4-liter volume your engine’s four cylinders take up. While the two volumes might sound like the same thing, they are not interchangeable

What kind of oil does a 2015 Buick Encore need?

Now that we’ve covered how much oil you’ll need, let’s find out what the best kind of oil is for your vehicle.
When it comes to the Buick Encore, experts recommend using 5W-30 full synthetic oil. Curious about what those numbers represent? Let’s run through why this oil grade works with your vehicle.
Each number in the oil grade tells us how thick or viscous the oil is. In this oil type, the 5W signifies that the oil will have a low viscosity at 0°F, while the number 30 tells us that the oil will also remain relatively thin at 212°F.
So why does viscosity level matter, anyways? In short, an oil with a low viscosity level will be easier on your engine and will ensure your vehicle performs well at a variety of temperatures.
Synthetic oil will improve the longevity of your motor oil, thus reducing the number of times you need to change your oil.

How often to change oil on a 2016 Buick Enclave

You have 6 liters of 5W-30 synthetic motor oil. So how do you know when to change your oil?
The general recommended interval for an oil change is every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. However, this interval may vary depending on how often your vehicle is being driven and the type of oil you’re using.
For instance, if you’re using synthetic oil, you can drive a solid 7,500 to 10,000 miles before changing your oil. Similarly, if your vehicle isn’t getting a lot of miles, you may be able to go six months before swapping the oil.
To ensure your oil stays clean and functional, you can regularly inspect the oil level (once a month or every other refuel) in your vehicle. If your oil looks dark brown or black or appears coarse and gritty, it’s probably time to change your oil.
Other signs of dirty oil to watch out for are
loud noises
and smells coming from the engine and noticeable changes in your Buick’s performance

How to change your oil and oil filter

Last but not least, let’s find out how to change your oil! Before you get started, ensure you’re prepared with:
  • A socket wrench
  • A drain pan
  • A filter wrench
  • A replacement filter
  • Six quarts of synthetic 5W-30 engine oil
Follow the steps below to change your oil:
  • Run your engine for approximately 5 minutes to allow your engine to reach its normal operating temperature
  • Turn off the engine and pop the hood
  • Locate the oil reservoir and remove the oil fill cap
  • Remove the oil drain bolt and washer
  • Drain the old oil into the drain pan
  • Take out old oil filter and continue to drain the oil
  • Install the new filter
  • Reinstall the oil drain bolt
  • Refill the engine with new oil
  • Replace the fill cap
And it’s as simple as that! Before you hit the road with your fresh oil, let your Encore’s engine run for a few minutes and watch for any oil leaks. As a final check, make sure the
oil pressure light
on your dashboard has turned off.
Don’t forget to properly dispose of the dirty motor oil in a sealed container before dropping it off at a recycling center. Never dump old oil out, either in the trash or on the ground.

Don’t forget regular insurance policy maintenance

And just like that—you’ve replaced the oil in your Buick and saved on the cost of a mechanic’s labor at a garage!
Completing your own
vehicle maintenance schedule
will keep your 2015 Buick Encore performing for miles to come while saving you time and money.
