What it does

First off, with the Heavy-Duty Tow package, your towing capacity increases from 6,000 pounds to 9,300 pounds. The Heavy-Duty Tow package also includes an improved radiator for better transmission cooling, which is essential when you’re hauling such large weights behind you.
Along with the increased towing capacity, the Heavy-Duty Tow package adds Ford’s Pro Trailer Backup Assist 2.0, which makes reversing with a trailer attached to your SUV much easier. With just the turn of a knob, you’ll be able to steer your trailer in reverse while ensuring it remains attached and properly aligned. The backup assist feature also helps with braking and offers improved sway control.
Lastly, the Heavy-Duty Tow package provides what Ford calls BLIS (Blind Spot Information System), which checks your blind spots for you as you handle your trailer. If you miss one of the BLIS’ audible alerts, the system sends resistive feedback to the steering wheel, ensuring you stay on the ball when hauling.
