It's easy to get started with Uconnect if you just left the lot in a brand-new Dodge. Press the Assist button on your rearview mirror, followed by Activate and Customer Care on your touchscreen. A live agent will then guide you through setting up your account.
If it’s been a year or more since you bought your Dodge, you’ll need to download the Uconnect Access app and sign up for an account on your own. Agree to the Terms of Service and create a four-digit Uconnect Security PIN to finish your registration. In addition, you'll need to subscribe to SiriusXM Guardian™.
How to start your Dodge remotely
Log into the Uconnect Access app on your smartphone and touch the circular arrow symbol. A pop-up will ask for your Uconnect Security PIN; after you enter it, press OK.
A confirmation message will appear after your smartphone sends the command. Close the message by pressing OK. Once your vehicle has received the command, it should send back a second confirmation message. You may need to wait up to three minutes for your car to start.
How to turn your Dodge off remotely
The engine will turn off after 15 minutes if you don't get into your car with a key after activating remote start. To cancel it yourself, open the Uconnect app and touch the circular arrow with an 'X'. Enter your Uconnect Security pin, wait for the command to be sent, and then confirm the command was received. The vehicle should now be turned off.
Other Uconnect features
Remote start is just the beginning of the Uconnect app’s list of features, which includes numerous Security functions.
- SOS Call connects you to emergency services at the press of a button.
- Automatic SOS (ASOS) Call connects you to a live assistant after your airbags deploy.
- Roadside Assistance Call contacts an operator who can order gas delivery or a tow truck.
- SiriusXM Guardian Assistance connects you to a customer service agent who can review your account or troubleshoot the app.
- Theft Alarm Notification sends you an alert by text, email, or push smartphone notification that your car’s alarm has been triggered.
- Stolen Vehicle Assistance helps the police locate your stolen vehicle.
- Remote Horn and Lights activates your car’s horn and lights so you can find it in a crowded parking lot.
Not to mention Convenience features like:
- Remote Door Lock and Unlock, which lets you control access to your vehicle.
- Send & Go, which sends destinations from your smartphone to your car’s navigation system.
- Vehicle Finder, which displays your car’s location on a map.
- Alexa Built-In Onboard, which streams music, writes texts, places calls, and sends instructions to connected Alexa smart devices at your voice command.
- Alexa Skill For Your Connected Vehicle, which sends verbal commands to your vehicle via your home Alexa smart devices.
The app also works on smartwatches, so you can see info about your vehicle on your wrist. Unfortunately, this technology isn’t for everybody, and it’s not free.

Is the Dodge remote start app free?
The Uconnect app is free to download, but you’ll need a paid SiriusXM Guardian subscription to use it.
Every remote-start-capable Dodge in the US comes with a free trial subscription to SiriusXM Guardian, which starts at the time of purchase or lease. Unfortunately, the trial only lasts 12 months. If you can't live without its features, you’ll need to upgrade to a paid subscription.
