Why your Honda Pilot needs a radio code

You may only use your radio for listening to the Top 40 on your daily commute, but your car radio is a seriously powerful piece of equipment. In fact, car radios are one of the most stolen vehicle components.
To help deter thieves who want to steal and sell your radio, manufacturers invented radio codes. When the battery in your SUV is disconnected or the radio is removed, you must input a specific code to reactivate the radio.
It’s helpful to have a tool that discourages radio theft. However, it can also be annoying if you installed a new battery and just need your radio to work again.
We’ll help you learn how to find a Honda Pilot radio code. Note that if you own a 2013-2014 Honda Pilot, you don’t actually need a code for system initiation. Check your owner’s manual in the Radio/Navigation section for more instructions.

How to find your Honda Pilot radio code

Let's begin with the simplest technique. Try pressing and holding the power button on the radio for a few seconds. This may be enough to reset the radio in some cars.
If this doesn’t work, then you should check the owner’s manual or glove box. You are looking for a sticker that says “Anti-Theft Radio Code.” It will be a string of five digits in a Honda Pilot.

How to look up a Honda Pilot radio code

If you couldn’t find anything in the manual or glove box, there’s still hope. You can get the Honda radio code by
VIN (vehicle identification number)
if you also have the radio serial number.
Start by finding the 17-character VIN. It will include numbers and letters. You can find the VIN listed on your insurance card and vehicle registration. It should also be printed on the vehicle at the base of the windshield on the driver’s side.
You will also need your radio serial code. Try pressing and holding down the 1 and 6 preset buttons at the same time. Then, move the key to the "ON" position in the ignition. On the radio screen, a 10-digit serial number may appear—take note of this!
If you drive an older Pilot, you may need to completely remove the radio to see the serial code on the back of the unit. Get professional help with this process, as it’s very easy to damage the radio and the dash if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Now that you have the VIN and the radio serial code, you can proceed with Honda radio code retrieval for your Pilot:
