2013 Dodge Durango towing capacity

The 2013 Dodge Durango was available in four trim levels, two engine options, and either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. No matter how you configured it, it could tow like a champ.
At a minimum, the 2013 Durango could tow 6,200 pounds. This would be more than enough for the average camper or ski boat.
2013 Durangos with the larger V8 engine have an increased towing capacity of 7,400 pounds. When you’re shopping for a used Durango, make sure you get precise details on the powertrain and additional packages of the vehicle you’re considering. Those are huge factors in determining how much the vehicle can tow.

Dodge Durango towing technology

What makes the Durango able to tow such large quantities? Part of it is its big, sturdy frame. All-wheel drive will help things, too, but what really gives the 2013 Durango its towing chops is what’s under the hood.
The award-winning, 3.6-literV6 Pentastar engine was the base engine, and it's considered one of the finest engines that the maker has ever produced. This setup produces 290 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque at 4,800 rpm.
The higher trim levels had the option to upgrade to a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine, which offered more power and more capacity. This engine was capable of generating 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque at 4,250 rpm. Now we’re talking!

Does the 2013 Dodge Durango come with a trailer hitch?

No. When purchased new, a trailer hitch was not standard equipment—it had to be selected and added on at the dealership. Depending on the inventory that’s available in the used market, you might be able to find one that has a hitch installed.
If not, there are aftermarket hitches that you can purchase and have installed (or install yourself) to be able to tow with your Durango.
