background
A 2006 Honda Civic’s radio code is typically found somewhere in the glove box or on the car’s manual. Look for a white sticker with a code that is labeled: Anti-Theft Radio Code. But even if you can’t find this sticker, a Honda owner can use their Civic’s VIN and radio serial number to retrieve the code. Read on to find out more.
You disconnected your Civic’s battery to do some work on your car. Now, after hooking your battery back up and starting the car, you notice the radio won’t turn on. Instead, the screen displays the word “CODE”. You vaguely recall the Honda dealer telling you something about an anti-theft code, but you have no idea where to find it.

Why your 2006 Honda Civic needs a radio code

For years, Honda radios have been desirable, and there’s a big black market for them. Because of this, Honda began designing their radios to shut down if they are disconnected from the car’s battery. The only way to get the radio to turn on again is by entering a code, which will make a thief think twice about breaking into a Honda and ripping out a radio.
While anti-theft radio codes go a long way to preventing car break-ins, car owners often forget they exist. When the battery is disconnected from a car’s electrical system, the radio reads this event as: “You’ve been stolen.” So, when Civic owners reconnect their battery, they discover their radio is inoperable and are mystified by the word CODE blinking on the screen.

How to find your 2006 Honda Civic radio code

While you may have forgotten where your 2006 Honda Civic radio code is located, luckily, it’s pretty easy to retrieve. First, open your Civic’s glove box and look around for a white sticker that says: Anti-Theft Radio Code. The code will be 5 or 6 digits long.
If you don’t see it in the glove box, look in your Civic’s owner manual. The sticker may be inside the front cover or you may find the code on a cheat sheet inside the manual.

How to look up a 2006 Honda Civic radio code

If you can’t find the sticker, you’re not out of luck. As long as you have your
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
and your radio’s serial number, you can retrieve the radio code.
The VIN is an alpha-numeric code consisting of 17 numbers and letters that you’ll likely find at the bottom of your Civic’s windshield, on the driver’s side. Other places to find the VIN are on your title, insurance documents, or your Civic’s registration.
To find the serial number, put your key in the ignition and turn it to the ON/Accessory position but don’t start the engine
Next, press the 1 and 6 preset buttons on the radio at the same time and hold them for about 5-6 seconds. Then, hold down the radio’s ON button, while keeping your fingers on the 1 and 6. At this point, the radio’s display should show the serial number, which is 10 digits long. Be sure to write it down or take a photo of it.
With both the VIN and the radio serial number, you can find a 2006 Honda Civic radio code.
There are a few ways to do it:
