background
If you’ve recently replaced or disconnected the battery on your 2005 Acura TSX, you’ll need a radio code to unlock your sound system. Typically, the radio code is in your glove box or owner’s manual, but you may need your VIN and radio serial number.
Not having your radio code handy is a pain when you really need it. It’s common for a 2005 Acura TSX’s radio to lock after battery maintenance, especially if your battery has died or been replaced.

Why your 2005 Acura TSX needs a radio code

So why does your 2005 Acura TSX need a radio code, anyway? You’ve never needed one before, so why is it prompting you now?
The answer is your battery; any time your battery dies or is replaced, your radio locks itself and requires a code to open. It’s an anti-theft measure to deter people from taking your sound system. It’s a helpful tool, but it can seriously get in the way if you’re the owner and have no idea what a radio code is.

How to find your 2005 Acura TSX radio code

Fortunately, it’s super easy to find your 2005 Acura TSX radio code as there are several places in your car to locate it.
The first place to check is your glove box. Your radio code should be on a sticker on the inside or in your owner's manual. It should say “Anti-Theft Radio Code” or something similar.
Your car’s door, trunk jamb, or engine fuse box cover may also have your radio code. You’re looking for a five-digit number—anything longer isn’t your radio code.

How to look up a 2005 Acura TSX radio code

Can't find a sticker? Not to worry! You can look up your radio code with two pieces of information: your
vehicle identification number (VIN)
and the radio’s serial number.
Finding your VIN is easy; check your registration, insurance documents, or the bottom of your windshield for your 17-digit VIN.
For your radio’s serial number, turn your ignition switch to ACC and press and hold the top halves of the SEEK/SKIP and CH/DISC bars. Then, press and release the PWR/VOL knob. This will toggle between two screens.
On the first screen, you’ll see the letter U followed by the first four digits of the serial number (ex. U1234). The second screen will show you the letter L followed by the last four digits (ex. L5678). Ignore the letters and put the two together to get your radio’s serial number.
If you don’t have a navigation system in your Acura, you’ll press the radio preset buttons 1 and 6 simultaneously instead of the SEEK/SKIP and CH/DISC bars.
Once you have your VIN and serial number ready, you can find your 2005 Acura TSX’s radio code in three ways:
  • Use Acura’s
    online lookup tool
  • Call (800) 382-2238
  • Bring your Acura to the nearest dealership
