background
Lexus
is known for making luxury vehicles that stand out from the crowd and are still relatively affordable. Having the
reliability of its parent company Toyota
, the 2021 Lexus LC500 does not disappoint.
The LC500 is unique in that there are several options available from convertible to hybrid or just keeping it simple with the standard sedan.

Specs on the 2021 Lexus LC500

The 2021 Lexus LC500 features a 5-liter V8 engine which gets 471 hp and 398 pounds per foot of torque. Both the convertible and coupe versions of this 2-door vehicle are guided by a smooth 10-speed automatic transmission.
There is a hybrid version of the vehicle, the Lexus LC500h has a 3.5-liter V6 engine, a gas-electric drivetrain, electric motors, a 1.1-kWh lithium-ion battery, a continuously variable automatic transmission or CVT, and can get up to 354 hp.
The standard LC gets a combined 19 mpg with 16 mpg city and 25 mpg highway, while the convertible gets a slightly lower combined mpg of 18 with 15 mpg city and 25 mpg highway.
Car and Driver
only mentions the LC500h’s 34 mpg total mpg and does not break it down, however, they also note that in their drive test the vehicle actually got around 30 mpg.

Design of the 2021 Lexus LC500

According to Car and Driver, the 2021 Lexus LC500 is “a special place, with a great driving position, rich materials, beautiful craftsmanship, excellent front seats, and loads of technology”.
Some parts of the car will need some time to get used to like the electronic shift lever. The LC500 has fairly small cargo space given that the rear seats can not fold down and according to Car and Driver they could only fit two carry-on cases within it.
While the center console has some decent size and includes a second cup holder, the general cabin area is limited in terms of storage for smaller items that you might typically have around your car.
The interior of the Lexus LC500 includes the Enform infotainment system which comes with navigation, Bluetooth, a mobile hotspot, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and many other apps.
However, Car and Driver notes that it is one of their least favorite systems due to the fact that it has a touchpad controller which could impair driver safety as it requires a lot of attention in order to use it.
