Powertrain and reimagined exterior

The three-row SUV is focused on adventure and can fit up to seven people. With four trim levels ranging from $57,950 to $76,650, the Discovery offers an upgraded grille, a silver bumper insert, and special emblems.
According to
Car and Driver
, “The mid-range R-Dynamic model offers the best value in the Discovery lineup, as it adds fog lamps, LED tail lights, aluminum interior trim, and uniquely styled front and rear bumpers.”
All-wheel drive comes standard on all models with two engine options. Drivers can choose between a 296 hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine or a 355 hp turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine (which also incorporates a 48-volt hybrid system).
The four-cylinder Discover has an EPA of 19 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. For 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, opt for the hybridized six-cylinder powertrain.

Land Rover Discovery interior and plush comfort

The Land Rover Discovery interior is oozing with style. “Luxury features abound throughout the cabin, and the level of comfort only increases as you climb through the more expensive trims,” Car and Driver tells us.
Features include 14-way power-adjustable heated leather seats with optional massage function for the driver and front-seat passenger, power-folding and reclining second-row seats, and a power tilt-and-telescoping and leather-wrapped steering wheel. Not to mention, new Titanium Mesh trims inlays on the dash and door panels.
As if that wasn’t enough, drivers can also add Windsor leather upholstery, combination synthetic leather and suede upholstery, a heated steering wheel, massaging front seats, an 18-way power-adjustable driver's seat, 20-way power-adjustable and ventilated front seats and heated second and third row seats.
According to Car and Driver, “The mid-range R-Dynamic trim now comes standard with a black contrast roof and the rest of the lineup gains several new standard features, including heated front seats, adaptive cruise control, three-zone automatic climate control, and a Meridian stereo system.”
If you fold both rear rows of seats, the cabin can hold up to 29 carry-on suitcases. “But flip the last row of seats up and load the Discovery with the full complement of seven would-be explorers and the maximum number of carry-ons it can carry drops to just two behind the third row,” Car and Driver notes.
Since the rearmost seats can be a bit crammed and tricky to access, they’re best suited for children.

Practicality and infotainment

If you’ve got kids, novel tablet-holding accessories can help set up rear-seat entertainment that will keep them occupied for hours. The Land Rover Discoveryinterior also has two sets of LATCH connectors for the second and third-row seats.
No matter which Discovery model you choose, you’ll receive the standard Land Rover's Pivi Pro infotainment system. Compared to previous models, the new system is quick to respond and quite intuitive.
Drivers will enjoy an 11.4-inch touchscreen display and features like real-time traffic-and-weather updates and a Wi-Fi hotspot powered by a 4G LTE data connection.
The system is also capable of over-the-air updates and compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The tech also includes a 12.3-inch digital gauge display, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and nine USB ports throughout the cabin.
Along with a 360-degree camera, the 2023 Land Rover Discovery comes equipped with standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, standard adaptive cruise control, and available lane-keeping assist.
