You’ll love customizing the seating arrangement with
Land Rover Discovery’s
unique configurable cabin. And while the vehicle does have three rows and seats up to seven passengers, those occupying the last row may feel a bit cramped.
Anyone with a big family can attest that finding the right family car can pose a challenge. If you want to avoid minivans, there are plenty of three-row SUVs to consider—but how do you know which one to choose?
The Land Rover Discovery is a stylish, customizable SUV that is available as a three-row seater, but the lack of legroom in the way back could present an issue.
To help you gain knowledge on the Land Rover Discovery’s third row is

What is the Land Rover Discovery’s Third row like?

You’ll love the standard leather upholstery of the Discovery's bucket seats, which are configurable and can seat up to seven passengers. The middle row has three full-sized seats, and two full-sized seats make up the last row. When you equip your Discovery with the optional intelligent seat-folding feature, you can fold and unfold the back seats individually—with your smartphone!
The Land Rover Discovery uses stadium seating to give all passengers a better view of the road ahead. But if you’re seated in the third row, being able to see the road may not be enough to make up for the lack of space.

Space and comfort

The comfortable seats and cavernous cabin of the Discovery, the largest SUV from
Land Rover
, make for a comfortable riding experience that you’ll be happy to sit in on long drives. The seats themselves are not the issue here, but rather the tight space in the third row — and even the second row for that matter.
Let’s take a closer look at the interior measurements of the Land Rover Discovery:
  • First row: 39.1 inches of legroom, 40 inches of headroom
  • Second row: 37.4 inches of legroom, 39.4 inches of headroom
  • Third row: 33.5 inches of legroom, 39.4 inches of headroom
Another common gripe with the Discovery is its minuscule cargo space behind the third row, which measures just 9.1 cubic feet. With the third row of seats folded down, you’ll get 45 cubic feet of cargo space. With both rows folded, that number increases to 74.3 cubic feet
Depending on your needs, the interior space of the Land Rover Discovery may not be quite enough. Several midsized, three-row SUVs offer a little more room to stretch out. Let’s take a look:

Is the Land Rover Discovery good for big families and long trips?

It depends. If you’ve got smaller children who don’t require third-row legroom, you have a solid road trip SUV in the Discovery. Something else to keep in mind is that if all three rows of seats are occupied by passengers, the cargo volume in the way back is mediocre at best.
On the plus side, you’ll be hard-pressed to find an SUV in the Discovery’s price point that has such a nice cabin. It’s got style and tech features to spare, including a four-zone climate control system and swanky infotainment system — ideal for long trips.
