Mazerolle offered potential specs as well. In his ideal scenario, the Harry Potter-themed Viper would hold onto the V10 familiar to the sports car, but with an added dose of power from an electric motor attached to the back axle. Similar hybrid powertrains offer more than 1,000 hp.

Despite the praise for Mazerolle’s design, Dodge hasn’t moved on its position concerning a Viper revival. Instead, the car brand is preparing to introduce the concept of eMuscle to U.S. drivers.

The first electric muscle car from the Stellantis-owned automaker will make its debut in 2024. Dodge presented the Charger Daytona SRT earlier this year, saying it would come with an artificial transmission and “exhaust pipes” that give the car a unique sound.

The company was light on more important details like the electric Charger’s price and performance numbers, but Car and Driver expect it to start for about $60,000.

So far the only EV with a similar pedigree is the Ford Mustang Mach-E. It’s a worthy competitor on and off the track, but its SUV crossover structure disqualifies its chance for muscle car status for most.

Without Dodge on board, it’s difficult to get any firm estimate on a future Viper Basilisk, but no Viper comes cheap. The 2017 model started at over $92,000, and swapping in a hybrid powertrain would probably rise that price significantly.
