First introduced back in 1965, the Ford Bronco has been around for a while.
Ford
evolved the style and features of this rugged car with the times, and it’s proven to be pretty popular among drivers throughout the years. But, the latest version of the Ford Bronco could change that.
According to
Consumer Reports
, the 2022 Ford Bronco missed the mark in many ways, which earned it a pretty low overall score from the ratings and reviews organization. Here’s what they didn’t like about the car many refer to as the main competitor of the Jeep Wrangler.

What’s wrong with the 2022 Ford Bronco?

The 2022 Ford Bronco has a price range starting just under $31,000, and going all the way up to $68,500, depending on the trim and features. Consumer Reports seems to think drivers could spend their money better elsewhere, because it gave the Ford Bronco an overall score of 47.
One of the biggest problems Consumer Reports seemed to have with the car was reliability, giving it just a 2 out of 5 in the predicted reliability category. Perhaps this rating is in part because the Ford Bronco doesn’t come standard with too many safety features, or because organizations like the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rated the car as just “acceptable” in categories like rear crash.
Additionally, fuel economy in the Bronco was rated as a poor 2 out of 5. The car gets just 18 mpg overall, 13 mpg in the city, and 24 mpg on the highway. With fuel economy capabilities that low, Consumer Reports estimates the average driver will spend close to $3,000 a year fueling this car.
Other pain points for the car as reported by Consumer Reports were poor braking capabilities and loud wind noise. A combination of all these issues left the 2022 Ford Bronco with an overall score of less than 50 from Consumer Reports.

The 2022 Ford Bronco still has redeeming features

Despite some of the glaring issues Consumer Reports found with the Ford Bronco, there are still some impressive perks and features of the car. For one thing, Consumer Reports loved the off-road capabilities of the car, and even stated it had better handling and a more comfortable ride than its competitor, the Jeep Wrangler.
The Bronco also has great acceleration, which earned it a 4 out of 5 in that category, and a transmission that earned a perfect 5 out of 5 rating. The Bronco is able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 7 seconds. That acceleration, plus great off-roading capabilities, makes the Ford Bronco the perfect adventure car.
