The best classic racers at Monterey Car Week

Monterey, California is known for its beautiful sights, great beaches, and the nation’s biggest car show of the year, so it's not surprising that collectors pulled out all the stops when deciding which classic cars to show this year.
According to
Jalopnik
, the 1955 Ferrari 410 Sport Spider was among the coolest racecars on display and was even dubbed by Mr. Ferrari himself as “the best Ferrari he ever built”, per an inscription on the fuel tank.
This particular Ferrari was driven by Carroll Shelby in 1956 and 1957 and collected 8 wins and 10 podium finishes—the most wins Shelby ever got in a single vehicle.
This car sold for over $22 million at Sotheby’s.
Another impressive racer was the 1987 Lotus 99T driven by legendary racer Ayrton Senna. This was the car Senna drove to score his first Monaco win in 1987, and second win in Detroit in the same year.

Trucks, coupes and more

One of the most interesting vintage cars at the show was a 1948 Alfa Romeo truck. This car found its way on a track too, but not the type of track you’re thinking.
It first came off the line as a 6C 2500 sport coupe, but was modified into a truck to perform as a support car for cycling races throughout Italy.
If you’re more into the American classic style, the 1941 Cadillac Series 62 Deluxe Convertible Coupe is a real show-stopper.
The glamorous deco styling, plush red velvet carpeting and sweeping, curvaceous exterior make it easy to picture some Golden Age of Hollywood star pulling up in this for their latest premiere.
Fans of the delightfully compact Japanese Kei car would be delighted to find that a 1968 Honda S800 and two vintage versions of the Honda Acty were also on display.
