Ford's revival of the Bronco was highly anticipated. After a 25-year hiatus, everyone wondered how
Ford
would reimagine the SUV for the 21st Century. One Bronco model that is receiving a lot of positive reviews is the 2021 Ford Bronco Black Diamond. In a line-up of several other models, what exactly makes the Black Diamond stand out?

3 reasons why the 2021 Ford Bronco Black Diamond stands out

All told, Ford's 2021 Bronco line-up has seven different trims/options. The $28,500 base model is at one end, and the $56,915 First Edition at the other. From there, most models then have multiple trim options. If you want an SUV that you can customize from top to bottom, look no further than today's Ford Bronco.
Sitting right in the middle is the SUV that Goldilocks would choose, the "just right" $36,050 Black Diamond. The Black Diamond stands out for three simple reasons: it's a good compromise between price, performance, and drivability.
If you can only afford one vehicle for both your weekday highway commute and your weekend off-road adventures, the 2021 Ford Bronco Black Diamond may be your best buy.

Meet the SUV with 'good street manners' and a 'rugged style'

Reviewers from both
MotorTrend
and Washington D.C.'s
WTOP news
were impressed with the 2021 Ford Bronco Black Diamond's on-road handling. WTOP went so far as to say that the Black Diamond has "good street manners." While no one is buying the Bronco for its fuel efficiency, it's worth noting that in 247 miles of mixed driving, the Bronco Black Diamond got 20.9 mpg.
For your off-road adventures, the Black Diamond has what you need without unnecessary frills. Both the 2.3-liter turbo four-cylinder engine and the 7-speed manual transmission have enough power to cover most terrain. Upgrade to the Ford Bronco Sasquatch package for features like 35-inch tires, fender flares, and front- and rear-locking differentials.
As for the "rugged style," bash plates protect the entire underbody, and rubber flooring with drain plugs make clean-up a breeze. Purists will be pleased to see vintage aesthetics like a boxy body and circular headlights.

Is the 2021 Ford Bronco Black Diamond a family-friendly SUV?

While the 2021 Ford Bronco Black Diamond comes close to being the perfect on-road/off-road vehicle, you may find that the two-door is not family-friendly
The MotorTrend reviewer found that the front seats got in the way of both installing car seats and helping young children in and out of the back seat. This isn't exactly a surprising frustration, but the logistics could get cumbersome on a daily basis.
If you have younger passengers, paying extra for a four-door 2021 Ford Bronco Black Diamond sounds like it's worth the money.
The MotorTrend reviewer also found the interior cargo space to be lacking. This won't be the vehicle you want to road trip across America in, unless you pack extra light. Of course, you can always make use of the roof's luggage rack.
