While today’s
celebs
may have the cash to splurge on the latest
luxury cars
, that doesn’t keep some stars from keeping it cool and casual. Perhaps it brings them back to their pre-fame roots or helps them feel like one of us.
Check out which famous celebrities stay under the radar with low-key, practical cars.

Talk show hosts with cheap cars

Not all actors, athletes, and internet personalities want a bold and flashy car. Some want to keep it simple and keep the paparazzi at bay.
Award-winning comic, writer, and Netflix TV host Hasan Minhaj likes to kick it in his black Toyota Camry. The former “The Daily Show” correspondent also owns a black Honda Odyssey, which allows him to go incognito when driving in The Big Apple. Hasan wants you to know that he’s not an Uber driver.
Millennials have a soft spot in their hearts for Conan O’Brien. Beginning his career as a writer for “Saturday Night Live” and “The Simpsons,” he soon made a name for himself as a talk show host in late-night television.
But does he flaunt his wealth with a brand new Tesla? No. O’Brien has delighted in sharing his emerald green 1992 Ford Taurus SHO with his fans, even bringing his prized possession on his talk show to show the world. He also claims it’s been driven by Brad Pitt, which we all agree increases the car’s value exponentially.
With a net worth of over $350 million, Jay Leno is famous for hosting “The Tonight Show,” but also for his insane car collection. The TV Host has over 250 vehicles that are worth well over $50 million.
While he owns some of the most unique cars ever (like the 1909 Baker electric car) he did add a 1991 GMC Syclone to his garage. The auto features a 4.3-liter V6 engine and is priced at around $26,000.

Actors with normal cars

If you couldn’t get “Get Your Head in the Game” out of your head, you, too, are a Zac Efron fanatic. Up until 2014, the High School Musical alum was spotted driving an Oldsmobile Alero coupe. While this mediocre car may have helped him stay anonymous at first, he was soon photographed all over town as he skyrocketed into fame.
According to
Autotrader
, “Efron ended up auctioning the car for charity, with a fan taking the winning bid and the car.” His new ride is a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van, which on the road is hard to miss. With his new Netflix show, “Down to Earth,” Efron is embracing his adventurous side as he explores how to live a sustainable life.
America Ferrara is an actor, producer, and director that you may know from starring in “Ugly Betty” or NBC’s hit comedy “Superstore.”According to Auto Trader, “After buying a BMW with her first acting cheque, she said on the ‘Late Late Show’ that she went too far and couldn’t afford the car.”
Instead, she opted for a fuel-efficient Toyota Prius that she’s driven for over 10 years. Ferrara seems to enjoy Toyotas, as she also owns a current-generation Toyota Highlander. She’s also been spotted driving her own Chevrolet Express U-Haul rental van when she and her family moved in 2020.
Tom Hanks loved quirky European cars. If you’re an avid follower of his social media, you’ll have noticed his Fiat 126 and a Scion xB (converted to electric) that he put up for auction.
Hanks has been regularly seen in a boxy dark blue Ford Transit Connect van. Can’t say we saw that one coming. He has also been spotted in a first-generation Toyota Tundra pickup towing a customized Airstream trailer to movie sets around the county.

Musicians and athletes with affordable cars

With a net worth of over $230 million, former *NSYNC member Justin Timberlake is a critically renowned solo artist and a downright hilarious “Saturday Night Live” host. The pop star drives around town in a fourth-generation Volkswagen Jetta that starts at around $16,000.
Grammy award winner Billie Eilish gives us major villain vibes with her speculated 707 hp black Dodge Challenger Hellcat, yet reports believe it could be a V6 base-level SXT trim car. Perhaps it's customized to look that way.
Eilish named the muscle car “Dragon” and has even featured it in her music videos. The singer may upgrade in the near future, as “Eilish has just launched a new campaign with Dodge that uses her song ‘Oxytocin’ to sell the big-power SRT Hellcat cars,” according to Autotrader.
Running back for the New York Giants, Alfred Morris is proud of his classic 1991 Mazda.
According to Autotrader, “The player bought the 626 from his pastor for $2 while he was a junior at Florida Atlantic University, and has driven it ever since, even after becoming famous.” Morris ironically named the car “Bentley” and he keeps it to remember how far he’s come.
As a driver for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas team, Formula 1 Champion Lewis Hamilton has an interesting choice for his company car. While we’d assume he’d have access to any car he desires from the lineup, he’s been seen driving a Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class. Rumor has it that it could even be a four-cylinder diesel model. We are shook.
