background
Sprinting from 0 to 60 mpg in a white-knuckle 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph, the 2023 BMW M240i xDrive is the fastest new car you can buy for under $60,000.
That said, there are a slew of quick rides, both new and used, that can satisfy your need for speed at or under this price. Read on—

The fastest sports cars you can buy new for under $60,000

With break-neck speed and a price tag under $60,000, these riotous rides will give you plenty of bang for your buck (along with a heart palpitation or two).

6. 2023 Ford Mustang GT Premium: 162 mph from $44,760

Whether or not you’re a horse person, the 2023
Ford Mustang GT
Premium is one pony you’re going to want to hop on. This steed gallops from 0 to 60 mph in just 4 seconds and is capable of reaching a top speed of 162 mph. Neigh, indeed.
The Mustang GT Premium prances to the tune of its 5.0-liter V8 engine and 450 horsepower, mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission. Though a 10-speed automatic is available, the former actually makes the Mustang slightly quicker.

5. 2023 Nissan Z: 155 mph from $41,015

As the successor to the
Nissan 370Z
, the new 2023 Z is sure to put a heck of a lot of zip into your morning commute. The Nissan Z Sport sports a 3.0-liter V6 engine with 400 horsepower. This mill powers the Z from 0 to 60 in just 4.3 seconds.
If that’s not fast enough for you, shell out an extra 10 grand for the Nissan Z Performance trim, which adds a stiffer suspension for even better performance handling.

4. 2023 BMW 2 Series Coupe: 155 mph from $50,895

Along with its 3.0-liter inline-six engine and 382 horsepower, the 2023 BMW M240i xDrive rockets from 0 to 60 in just 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard; sadly, there’s no manual transmission available.
Still, the M240i xDrive has plenty of gumption courtesy of its sporty suspension, powerful brakes, 19-inch performance tires, and electronically controlled rear differential—not to mention its agile handling and refined ride. Its speed and grace are, as the Germans say, “Hammer geil!” (That means outstanding to all you non-Teutons out there.)

3. 2023 Toyota GR-Supra: 155 mph from $43,540

This snazzy coupe has speed to burn and envious cornering chops. The
Toyota GR-Supra
features a robust 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder engine with 382 horsepower that achieves a top speed of 155 mph.
You’ll sprint from 0 to 60 in just 3.9 seconds in this powerful little ride, but you’ll have to do it without a manual transmission. Only an eight-speed automatic is offered.

2. 2022 Audi TT: 155 mph from $50,500

Available as either a coupe or a convertible, the classic teardrop-shaped
Audi TT
roadster is sure to turn heads as you motor down the Autobahn (or your local highway). Capable of reaching a top speed of 155 mph, we here at Jerry strongly discourage you from flooring it, as the police (or the polizei) are sure to take notice.
Powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 288 horsepower that’s mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission, the TT shoots from 0 to 60 in a scant 5.2 seconds.

1. 2022 BMW Z4 sDrive30i: 155 mph from $49,900

This powerful and shifty cloth-top convertible is sure to give your life—not to mention your daily drive—a jolt. The
BMW Z4 sDrive30i
is equipped with a 2.0-liter twin-turbo four-cylinder engine with 255 horsepower.
The Z4 rips from 0 to 60 in just 5.2 seconds. But aside from its power and speed, it’s relatively practical with decent cargo space, high reliability scores, and strong value retention.

Fast used cars for under $60,000

So, maybe you don’t want a super-fast car that’s new, or you don’t see a quick ride that’s uniquely you. Well, you’re in luck, because there are plenty of fast used cars out there with plenty of speed to burn carrying price tags of $60,000 or less.
Here are four of the best.

Best used sport sedan: 2020 Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400

  • Edmunds used price: $45,000
  • 0 to 60 time: 4.5 seconds
  • Top speed: 155 mph
A handsome, sporty midsize sedan, the 2020
Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400
packs a powerful punch in a slightly more demure package. That said, it’s got a bit of flash to it, with 20-inch wheels, red brake calipers, and leather upholstery.

Best used roadster: 2020 Fiat 124 Spider Abarth

  • Edmunds used price: $29,998 to $33,990
  • 0 to 60 time: 6.3 seconds
  • Top speed: 136 mph
This smooth-yet-practical roadster was discontinued after the 2020 model year, but the
Fiat 124 Spider Abarth
is still a thrill to drive if you can get your hands on one.

Best used luxury sedan: 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLA 45

  • Kelley Blue Book used price: $32,968
  • 0 to 60 time: 3.8 seconds
  • Top speed: 168 mph
With blistering speed and a sporty, luxurious look, the 2021
Mercedes-Benz AMG CLA 45
is a small, sporty sedan that is loads of fun to drive. You’ll also look really good driving it, so what are you waiting for?

Best used muscle car: 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

  • Edmunds used price: $52,999 to $63,990
  • 0 to 60 time: 3.7 seconds
  • Top speed: 198 mph
You want fast, do you? Well, the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has more speed than you’ll ever need (unless you’re fleeing your annual work Christmas party, wherein there’s no such thing as “too much speed”).
With a mind-boggling top speed of 198 miles per hour, and the ability to sprint from 0 to 60 in just 3.7 seconds, this thing is ridiculously fast. Plus, it has sharp, nimble handling and a pliant adaptive suspension. Have fun (but not too much fun—we here at Jerry can get jealous).
