Newark Moonlight Cinema shows everything from recent releases to cult classics.
Gates open one hour before showtime and the closest parking spots are on a first-come-first-served basis. Turn off your engine and lights and enjoy the show!

How to hear the movie

You will need to use your car or portable radio to hear the movie. Tune into 97.5 FM for screen one and 98.5 FM for screen two

The Newark Moonlight snack bar has everything a movie traditionalist could ask for: popcorn, nachos, candy, and even some hot food options like wings and burgers. Food can be ordered directly to your car with their FanFood app.

Delsea Drive-In Theatre

Ticket prices: $11 for ages 4 and older, free for children 3 years or younger
Number of screens: 2
Pet-friendly? No, but service animals are permitted
The Delsea Drive-in Theater was originally opened way back in 1949 but closed in 1987. After sitting dark for 17 years, it re-opened in 2004. Delsea prides itself on combining the nostalgia of the drive-in movie theatre with modern technologies and healthier food choices.

Always a double feature, sometimes a triple feature! Tickets are sold by screen, not movie.
All tickets must be purchased online unless you are adding individuals to a previous order. In that case, it’s cash only per ticket ($11.73 + tax).
Note that larger vehicles, vans, trucks, SUVs are prohibited from parking in the first five rows.

How to hear the movie

The Delsea broadcasts their audio using FM radio signals. If you prefer a portable radio as opposed to a car radio, they do offer a selected number of radios to rent for $10 (cash).

If you look at the Delsea’s menu, it will be hard to tell if you’re at a restaurant or a drive-in movie theater! Their menu highlights include chicken parmesan, cheesesteaks, pierogies, and all the traditional movie theater snacks. There is also an extensive list of gluten-free options.
If still nothing catches your eye, they offer $20 food permits if you would like to bring in your own food.
Gates open two hours before showtime, so you will have plenty of time to enjoy a meal before the movie gets rolling.

As of 2021, Newark Moonlight Cinema and Delsea Drive-In Theatre are the only two operating drive-ins in New Jersey.
No, you don’t need to leave your car on throughout the movie. Most theaters require you to have your engine and lights off while the film is rolling.
Running the car for a few minutes after you park should give you enough power to last the length of the movie. If your battery does run out, a fellow moviegoer should be able to help you jumpstart it.
Drive-ins typically do not cancel movies in the event of light weather, but will if the rain is enough to affect the movie-goers experience. Make sure to check the drive-in’s website for full weather policies.
