When driving, what is the primary role of peripheral vision?
I’ve recently switched from contacts to prescription glasses when driving. My vision isn’t bad, but my periphery is still a bit blurry. What is the primary role of peripheral vision when driving?

Central vision can help us see what lies ahead, but peripheral vision is more sensitive to light and motion. So, the most important role of peripheral vision is to help the driver notice when other vehicles are passing.
Peripheral vision doesn’t require extreme clarity. Prescription glasses should have little impact on the driver’s ability to sense light and motion in their periphery.
