What is the 2018 Honda CR-V brake system problem?

I was considering buying a used Honda CR-V but when I told my friend about it, she warned me about some widespread brake issues. I’m a little nervous now. What’s the problem?

It’s great that your friend is looking out for you—as frustrating as it might seem when you’re itching to buy that used CR-V. The 2018
Honda CR-V
brake system problem boils down to a class-action lawsuit concerning defective “Honda Sensing” automatic braking systems in 2017 and 2018 CR-V models.
Essentially, the Honda Sensing braking system is a driver-assist safety feature that’s programmed to automatically brake when a pedestrian or other obstacle crosses in front of your CR-V’s path. Unfortunately, there have been many reports of a software defect in 2017 and 2018 models that causes random, sudden braking when there is no obstacle on the road.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) actually received upwards of 278 complaints detailing automatic braking systems deploying randomly at high speeds—and causing some significant damages because of it. Though the NHTSA is still investigating the issue, Honda has yet to initiate any official recalls.
Despite how scary inadvertent emergency braking is, it’s worth noting that the vast majority of 2018 Honda CR-Vs do not suffer from this problem. If you’re worried, though, you can always consider similar SUVs like the highly-rated
