What is a key factor in driving safety?

Is there something that people call the key factor in driving safety? I saw a question about it on a packet I have that prepares you for the driving exam, but the answer got cut off.

It’s awesome that you’re preparing for your driving exam! Typically situational awareness, or being alert to your surroundings and potential hazards in your path, is considered a key factor in driving safety. This is because situational awareness allows you to catch potential accidents before they happen and prevent any damage from being done.
However, there are lots of more specific behaviors that fall under the umbrella of
safe driving
, too! Some things to remember:
  • Always signal your intent before doing something, whether that’s slowing down or changing lanes.
  • Keep a safe distance between yourself and the driver in front of you.
  • Don’t let yourself get distracted by your phone, the radio, your passenger, or anything else going on in the car.
It’s also a good idea to find a good insurance policy to keep you safe. The
