Is composite decking too hot for dogs?
I just had my deck redone with composite decking because I figured it would last longer. It looks great now that it’s done, but I didn’t realize how hotter it could get! That makes me worried about letting my dog out to the backyard. Is composite decking too hot for dogs

While composite decking has its benefits, it’s true that certain kinds can heat up in the sun. Generally, if your composite decking is too hot for you to walk across barefoot, it’s safe to assume it’s too hot for dogs.
If your composite decking is too hot for dogs, there are a couple of different things you can do to combat this.
You could set up an umbrella or another structure on your deck to shade the area so it stays cool enough for your dog to walk across. You could also consider laying down some outdoor rugs so it’s not too hot on their paws as they’re coming in and out of your house—which will probably be nice for the humans in your house, too!
