What a sweet gift, the Leaf is a great car! Charging a Nissan Leaf is no different from any electric car. You simply plug it into the designated port on the vehicle and “leaf” (leave) it overnight. (Sorry, the pun was irresistible!)
There are three levels of charging ports
but only two are available at home. Level one is the slowest of all three, but the plus side is that you can use any regular household outlet.
For a level two charger, you’ll need to buy a charger and pay to install it as well. Depending on how often the car is driven, it may be worthwhile to invest in this kind of charger.
You’ll notice quickly the Leaf has a different layout. Don’t go looking on one of the sides—it’s not there. Unlike traditional cars, the Leaf has its charging port in the front hood of the vehicle, right above the logo.
From inside the car, you can open the hatch with the button to the right of the steering wheel or on the key fob. We hope your daughter loves the car, she’ll be so surprised she won’t be-leaf it! (Last, pun I promise).
If your daughter is getting her own car, it might be a good idea to get her a quality insurance plan. Jerry
is a quick and easy way to get great deals on insurance. Your daughter can even get the app on her own phone. Jerry refreshes at the end of every billing period to make sure you’re always getting the best savings. MORE: How many solar panels are needed to charge an electric car?
