How many days does driving from Virginia to California take?

My mom just got a new job in California. I’m pretty excited to move, but I’m not looking forward to riding all the way there from Virginia with my little brother. How long is this drive going to take?

Little brothers can be the pits, but don’t worry, you’ll be taking quite a few pit stops on your cross-country trek.
The drive from
Virginia
to
California
will take about 40 hours, not including breaks, and you’ll need a lot of breaks.
If your mom is the only driver, then once you factor in breaks for eating, sleeping, restroom, and gas, you’ll be looking at about five days. That’s assuming she drives no more than nine hours each day, which is the safest bet.
With such a long drive ahead of you, make sure to have your mom download the
