I will be getting a colonoscopy next week. I need to know how long I would need to wait before driving so I can schedule time off.

Hope your procedure goes well! You should avoid driving for 24 hours after your colonoscopy, as you need to wait for the sedatives to wear off. However, the doctor may require you to wait longer, depending on his/her evaluation.
After the procedure, you will feel drowsy and have slower reflexes for up to 12 hours. It will be unsafe to drive in this condition, so be sure to arrange for a ride home. To help with your recovery, have a light meal when you get home and take a nap for several hours.
While you’re at home recovering, you can also look into updating your
