How do you tow a BMW without a tow hook?

I don’t have a tow hook, but I want to tow my BMW when I move out of state next month. What's the best way to tow a BMW without a tow hook?

Good for you for thinking outside the box, but you should definitely know that towing BMW’s without a tow hook is a difficult proposition. There’s really only two ways to do it:
  • Load it on a car trailer. This is a pretty simple method! Drive the BMW onto the trailer using the ramps, and use either ratchet straps or safety chains (or both) to secure it. You want at least four tie-down points.
  • Use a tow dolly. You can purchase or rent one at places like U-Haul or other truck rental locations. A tow dolly is a very small trailer with two wheels, and while it can’t support a larger vehicle, it can definitely support a BMW.
