How do you open the gas tank on a Dodge Challenger?

I just drove my brand new Dodge Challenger and then the low fuel warning light came on moments later. I feel ridiculous but I’m unsure how to open the gas tank on my Dodge Challenger. Can you help?

The answer of how to open the gas tank depends on the
Dodge Challenger
model year. Some Challengers come with a fuel door release lever between the steering wheel and driver’s door that you pull to open the gas tank door.
But if your Dodge Challenger doesn’t have a fuel door release level, you’ll need to open your fuel tank from the outside. Here’s how:
  • Turn off your engine
  • Get out of your vehicle
  • Press the fuel door and it should spring open
  • Twist the gas cap counterclockwise to access the fuel tank
Make sure your Challenger is unlocked or the fuel tank door won’t be able to open. This is an added security measure to prevent someone from siphoning your gasoline or tampering with your fuel tank while your doors are locked.
Now that you know how to open your gas tank, you’re ready to refuel your Dodge Challenger. Just make sure you
choose the best gasoline
for your vehicle. While most Challengers take regular unleaded fuel, premium gasoline is recommended for optimal performance. That’s because premium gasoline contains additives for performance engines that regular unleaded doesn’t. So when you are at the pump, look for a gas with an octane rating of at least 91 or higher.
