How do I fix dents in my car roof?

After leaving my car parked for a few hours, I returned to find a dent in the roof! I'd love to try and fix this at home, if possible. How do I fix dents in my car roof?

“Your insurance probably won’t cover this type of wear-and-tear, so it’s best to try to fix it yourself!
You can try to fix dents to your car roof at home. Here are a few different methods for fixing roof dents.
One method is using heat to remove the roof dent. This can be done with either a hair dryer or boiling water applied on the dent. After applying heat for a few minutes, the dent might pop out.
If this isn’t working, rub the dent with dry ice after applying heat. The heat expands the metal then the ice contracts the metal, causing the dent to revert to its original shape.
If heat and cold aren’t working, a simple household plunger can do the job. Place the plunger on the dent and use its suction to pull the roof back into its intended shape.
If you want to handle the dents professionally, make sure you have the best possible auto insurance coverage with Jerry. While insurance likely won’t cover a roof dent, they can refer you to reputable mechanics to help.”
