How can I find my VIN number for my BMW?

I just got my first BMW, and I’m so stoked! I’m currently trying to insure it, though, and I’m not sure where to find my VIN number—which I need in order to get insurance. Where can I find a BMW VIN?

Congratulations on your BMW! I’m happy to say that there are a couple of places you can look for your vehicle identification number (VIN).
To find your
VIN
number for your BMW, start by looking at your car.
Your car’s VIN will usually be on the inside frame of the driver’s door or on the dashboard near the base of the windshield. A VIN consists of 17 characters, so keep your eyes peeled for a longer string of numbers. The second character will always be a B on a BMW, which can help you verify the VIN more easily.
If you can’t find it on your car, however, check your vehicle’s registration. You would have been required to include your VIN while registering your car, so make sure to check your paperwork!
Once you’ve located your VIN, you can finish insuring your vehicle. If you want to make this process as easy as possible, try checking out the

app—just fill out a few quick questions and we’ll get you personalized quotes from top insurers in seconds. And once you find the plan that works best for you, we’ll help you with every step of getting fully insured.
Best of luck with finding the VIN, and congrats again on your new ride!
