The Executive package adds top-of-the-line convenience and luxury to the BMW X5’s driver and passenger experience.
The most notable convenience features are the heads-up display—which projects navigation, travel information, infotainment functions, and more right above your dash—and the remote engine start which allows you to start your BMW’s engine and dual-zone climate control with a mobile app from 100 to 223 feet away.
Every X5 comes with a dual-panel moonroof, but the standard Executive package enhances this interior feature with ambient LED mood lighting in white, blue, orange, bronze, lilac, or green. Rear window shades also allow passengers to block exterior light as needed, while hand-made, diamond-cut glass controls give the driver a little something special to hold onto.
Since the X5 M already comes with many of the Executive Package’s features, adding the package to it elevates seating comfort. A light pull on the door activates the soft-close automatic motors to gently and silently draw the doors closed for you. Massage controls provide maximum front seat relaxation, while heating and cooling elements maximize comfort in all climates.

Is the Executive package worth it?
If you’re already splurging on a luxury BMW, chances are that you’re not that scared to pay a little extra. However, you may want to consider your other options when it comes to the Executive package.
The heads-up display and remote engine start are arguably the most enticing upgrades in the package—but did you know you don’t need to pay for the full Executive package to get them?
You could get these features on an X5 sDrive40i or xDrive40i and save $2,000 by opting for the Premium package over the Executive package. Similarly, the xDrive45e and M50i offer the heads-up display as a stand-alone upgrade for just $1,100—remote start already included!
The Executive package is hardly a necessary addition to the performance-oriented X5 M, but let’s be real: who’s gonna stop you from paying extra for heated cupholders when you’re already shelling out six figures? Still, we’d sooner go all the way and prioritize the Competition Package ($9,300 MSRP) since this is where the true nature of the X5 M lies.
Executive package vs. the Premium package
The BMW X5 Premium package is another convenience package that’s only available for the core X5 models: the sDrive40i and xDrive40i. It includes the most notable upgrades from the Executive package—the heads-up display and remote engine start—but only costs $1,350.
While the Premium package does away with some of the Executive package's more frivolous features (like the LED-enhanced moonroof and glass-trimmed controls), it does so to prioritize convenience over opulence. It also adds a wireless charging pad and wi-fi hotspot valued at $500, so you’re really saving $2,500 over the Executive package, depending on the features you want.
