background
To find a 2000 Honda CR-V radio code, start by looking for a sticker with the code in your owner’s manual or glove box. Otherwise, use the VIN and radio serial number to look it up
In most vehicles, whenever the battery is disconnected the radio will stop working. To regain access to the radio, you must enter a special code. This is helpful for deterring thieves but annoying for CR-V owners who just want to listen to their radio!
Confused about how to find the radio code and where to enter it? Honda radio code retrieval is easier than you think. Here’s a quick guide from

Honda CR-V insurance costs

Why your 2000 Honda CR-V needs a radio code

Radios are one of the most frequently stolen car parts. Radio codes were invented to discourage thieves from removing and selling car radios. They add an extra layer of difficulty for anyone who tries to use a stolen radio.
While radio codes are powerful anti-theft tools, they can also be really annoying if your CR-V has not actually been stolen. Anytime your car battery gets disconnected—like for electrical repairs or installing a new battery—you’ll need to enter the radio code!
To find this special code, here are several places to look.

How to find your 2000 Honda CR-V radio code

Let’s start with the easiest technique. Press and hold down the power button on the radio for a few seconds. In some vehicles, this is enough to reset the radio without the need for a code.
If that didn’t work, look in your glove box and check the owner’s manual. You are looking for a small sticker that says “Anti-Theft Radio Code.” It will be five digits long.

Couldn’t find the sticker or the code? That’s alright, you can also get the radio code by using your
Honda
VIN (vehicle identification number)
along with the radio serial number.
The first step is to find your 17-digit VIN. It will be listed on your insurance card and on your registration. On CR-Vs, you can find the VIN printed on the vehicle at the base of the windshield on the driver’s side.
In addition to the VIN, you will need the radio serial number. To get your Honda radio code by serial number, try pressing the 1 and 6 buttons on your radio then turn the key in the ignition to the ‘ON’ position. This may force the display of a 10-digit alphanumeric serial code on the radio screen.
Since your Honda is a bit older, this technique might not work. Instead, you may need to remove the radio to find the serial code as printed on the back of the system. It is really easy to damage the radio and the car when removing a radio, so we recommend getting help from a trained mechanic with this step.
Once you have the VIN and the radio serial number, you can look up your 2000 Honda CR-V radio code:
