What is the Tahoe's gas mileage?
I just had my fourth child, so I’m looking to upgrade from a sedan to an SUV. The Tahoe looks like a great choice, but I don’t want to buy a gas guzzler. What is the fuel economy of the Chevy Tahoe?

Despite its large size, the
Chevy Tahoe
gets comparable fuel economy to other full-size SUVs. So you’ll be pleased that the Tahoe’s gas mileage goes up to 28 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg in the city.That said, the Tahoe’s gas mileage will vary depending on which engine you choose and whether you opt for four-wheel drive (4WD) or rear-wheel drive (2WD):
- 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 with 2WD: 28 mpg highway; 21 mpg city
- 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 with 4WD: 26 mpg highway; 20 mpg city
- 5.3-liter V-8 with 2WD: 20 mpg highway; 15 mpg city
- 5.3-liter V-8 with 4WD: 20 mpg highway; 15 mpg city
- 6.2-liter V-8 with 2WD: 20 mpg highway; 14 mpg city
- 6.2-liter V-8 with 4WD: 19 mpg highway; 14 mpg city
As you can see from the figures above, the turbodiesel engine is the best option if you want to save at the pump.
