Where can I find my Toyota’s paint code?

No matter which model of Toyota you drive, you can find the paint code for your Toyota in the same place: the driver’s side door jamb on the VIN sticker. The sticker will be white, silver, or black.
Toyota paint color codes start with C/TR. The important part is the numerical and alphabetical code that comes after the C/TR prefix. The paint code is on the left side of the tag, just beneath the bar code.
Once you have the code, check out the
Toyota paint code chart
to find the exact color of your vehicle.

What if there’s no paint code on the car’s label?

If you cannot find the paint code for any reason, use your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) to look up the Toyota paint code.
The VIN may be located in one of three locations on your vehicle:
  • On the certification label inside the driver’s-side door jamb
  • On a metal plate on the lower-right corner of the driver’s side dashboard
  • Stamped under the front passenger seat
If you cannot find the , check the car’s title and registration. Once you have the VIN, go online or call a dealership. They can pull up the Toyota paint colors according to the VIN.

Where can I get paint for my Toyota?

Toyota touch-up paint is easy to order. Go to the
Toyota touch-up paint

directly
from Toyota. The Toyota touch-up paint pen is a great choice for small nicks. You may even be eligible for the Toyota paint warranty!
If you have the correct paint code, you can get color-matched paint whenever you need it.

Paint touch-up tips

If you plan to handle paint touch-ups yourself, check out these quick tips first. Here’s what you need to know to do a professional-quality paint job on your Toyota:
  • Clean the damaged areas gently with soap
  • If rust is present, sand the damaged area with fine sandpaper
  • Prime the damaged area, allowing time for it to cure. Then sand down the primer to create a level surface
  • Paint it with the proper color. Apply several coats, allowing time for each coat to dry completely. Let the entire vehicle dry overnight
  • Top with a protective clear coat using the same method above
  • Buff the area with a rubbing solution after three days to make it shine
For a very small area—like a small scratch—you could definitely get away with purchasing a paint pen or smaller paint pack instead of a full can of paint.
