SUVs
, or sports utility vehicles, are cars that come in many different varieties. With hundreds of engine options, thousands of paint colors, countless unique interiors, and more, SUVs give drivers the ability to completely customize their car with so much optionality.
But, with all the variety in features comes a great variety in price, too. In 2022, the cheapest SUV—the
Hyundai Kona
—and the most expensive SUV—the Rolls-Royce Cullinan—vary in price by about $330,000. Here’s what you need to know about both.

Cheapest SUV of 2022: Hyundai Kona

With a price starting at $22,595, the base SE trim of the Hyundai Kona is the most affordable SUV of 2022. Don’t be fooled by the price, because this car still offers a lot of great features and perks. In fact,
Car and Driver
loved it so much, they gave the 2022 Hyundai Kona an Editor’s Choice Award.
The 2022 Hyundai Kona offers two engine options—a 2-liter, four-cylinder engine, or a turbocharged 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine. The SE model comes standard with the 2-liter that produces 147 hp, plus the car also has six-speed automatic transmission. The engine takes about 9.2 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in test drives and boasts a fuel economy of an overall 33 mpg.
Inside this car, drivers will find a modern, comfortable interior with a leather steering wheel and seats. Because it’s an SUV, cargo space is solid, with Car and Driver finding it could hold 14 carry-on suitcases. The Kona comes standard with an 8-inch infotainment system and a variety of safety features.

Most expensive SUV of 2022: Rolls-Royce Cullinan

Starting at a whopping $351,250, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan is the most expensive SUV of 2022.
The Cullinan only comes in one trim, which has a twin-turbocharged, 6.7-liter, V12 engine that produces an incredible 563 hp, plus an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. It can get from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, but has a fuel economy of just 12 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.
Of course, over a quarter of a million dollars will buy you a pretty lavish interior. According to
Car and Driver
, inside the 2022 Rolls-Royce Cullinan, drivers will find box-grain leather, lambs-wool carpeting, wood trim, and aluminum accents.
Front seats are heated, adjustable, and massaged, and all those features can be added to the rear seats, too. The infotainment system is a large touchscreen, equipped with Apple CarPlay, WiFi hotspots, and 18 speakers.
Drivers also have the option to add a 12-inch infotainment system to the rear seats. Safety features on this car are good and include a variety of driver assist technology.
