background
Camper vans can be a great way to travel the country, experience the great outdoors, or even just go for a family vacation, but they don’t exactly have a reputation for being fuel-efficient. Thanks to
Hyundai
, that’s about to change.

has all the info you need on the new Hyundai camper van.

What’s Hyundai’s new camper van like?

Hyundai's new camper van, the Staria Lounge Camper, isn’t electric, but that doesn’t stop it from being super-efficient. According to
CleanTechnica
, Hyundai achieved this efficiency partially by making use of every possible inch of space within the vehicle.
The Staria Lounge Camper—which is relatively small for a camper van—doesn’t look like much from the outside, but that changes once you see just how much this little van can do. Its minimalist exterior gives this retro-style van a futuristic appeal, and the interior is even better.

Full features in a small package

Just because the Staria Lounge Camper is small, doesn’t mean it’s not equipped with just about everything you’d expect from a camper. It’s essentially the tiny home of campers, offering a stove, efficient fridge, and a sink all within its fully-convertible interior.
The Staria Lounge Camper even comes equipped with a shower! The showerhead, which provides hot water, is concealed within a hidden compartment in the back of the van.
It’s the perfect setup for rinsing off sand after a beach day. If you’re going on a longer trip and want a full shower experience, you’ll just have to set up a privacy tent.
The Camper also comes with an electrically operated pop-top roof that creates space for a two-person mattress. The seats inside also lay flat for even more cabin space.
On the outside, just extend the built-in awning with its own LED lights for an evening or grilling or lounging by the camper. While perusing pictures of the Staria Lounge, it’s almost too easy to start planning the getaway you’d have in this compact, stylish camper.

The Staria Lounge’s one downside

While the camper has been spotted at some dealerships throughout Europe, it doesn’t look like it will be making its way stateside any time soon. According to
Car and Driver
, it will be sold in Korea for the equivalent of 40,000 to 50,000 USD.
The closest thing that consumers in the U.S. have to the Staria Camper is probably the Mercedes-Benz Metris Weekender, but the fully-loaded camper edition will run you at least $90,000.
