Sophie Newman is a writer from California. Her hobbies include brewing her own kombucha, riding horses, and taking long road trips.
“Dollar-a-day insurance, also know as New Jersey’s Special Automotive Insurance Policy (SAIP), is designed for:
- low-income drivers
- individuals who qualify for Medicaid
SAIP helps cover medical costs associated with accidents, but it doesn’t cover other losses, like comprehensive coverage does.
It’s also not a substitute for liability insurance or the state minimum insurance requirement.”

Can you purchase temporary car insurance in Alaska?
I'm going on a trip and planning on borrowing a friend's car. I don't have my own vehicle or insurance. To ensure that I'm covered (and to not rely on my friend's policy), can I purchase my own temporary insurance as well?
