Be aware that you’ll be asked if you’ve purchased new insurance.
If you have purchased a new insurance plan: Provide your new insurance company’s name, your policy number, and the start date of your new plan. The effective date of your cancellation should be the same day that your new policy will start.
If you haven’t bought new insurance yet: If you’re not planning to drive anymore, you can cancel your plan without buying a new one, but otherwise, you’ll need a new policy. Canceling your old plan without having a new one in place will lead to an insurance lapse, which will make your rates go up in the future.
