Can you cancel your Progressive car insurance online?
I was thinking about shopping around for new car insurance, but the idea of calling my old insurance to cancel my policy makes me anxious. Is there a way to cancel my Progressive insurance online?

You can use the
Progressive
AskFlo chatbot to help you start the process of canceling your car insurance
, but you may still need to make a phone call or send in a letter by mail.To get to AskFlo:
- Visit the Progressive website
- Log in to your account
- Click on “Contact Us” at the bottom of the page
- Click “Start chat >”
- Type “I want to cancel my policy” in the text box
- Follow the prompts to cancel the policy
Progressive’s website doesn’t list online cancellation as an option, so it’s likely you’ll have to contact an agent directly to finish
canceling your Progressive insurance
.Be aware that you’ll be asked if you’ve purchased new insurance.
- If you have purchased a new insurance plan: Provide your new insurance company’s name, your policy number, and the start date of your new plan. The effective date of your cancellation should be the same day that your new policy will start.
- If you haven’t bought new insurance yet: If you’re not planning to drive anymore, you can cancel your plan without buying a new one, but otherwise, you’ll need a new policy. Canceling your old plan without having a new one in place will lead to an insurance lapse, which will make your rates go up in the future.
