How can I cancel my USAA car insurance policy?

I'm being discharged from the military next month and want to cancel my USAA car insurance. How would I do that?

Answer
Even if you are being discharged from the military, you can keep your car insurance with USAA. Their benefits are available to active-duty military or veterans. Coverage also extends to spouses and children.
If you still want to cancel your USAA insurance, it’s easy to do. You can cancel by calling USAA at 1-800-531-8722 or by accessing your online account through their website or app. USAA doesn’t charge cancelation fees, so you shouldn’t be charged a fee, even if you cancel midterm.
If you paid in full, you should receive a prorated discount when canceling midterm.
To find out more information about canceling, you’ll want to reach out to USAA directly. Be sure you have a new insurance policy set in place before you cancel. If possible, try to line up your cancellation date with the date your new policy is effective. This will prevent any lapses of coverage and ensure you and your vehicle are protected.
