How to start your Ram remotely through the Uconnect app

Ram vehicles use the Uconnect app for remote commands, and you can find it on the Apple Store or Google Play. But to get access to the convenience of remote start, you must first sync your app to your truck—here’s how:
  • Select "Apps" on your Ram's Uconnect touchscreen
  • Tap "Activate Services"
  • Enter your mobile number to get your enrollment link
And, boom! This link will then guide you toward creating a Uconnect account. From there, you will be able to access your remote commands dashboard.
Simply press the start icon (circle arrow icon), input your security PIN code, and your engine should fire right up! Your Ram will stay on for 15 minutes before automatically turning off.
Congrats! You officially have activated the remote start feature on your Ram. Your future self will thank you when those cold winter mornings eventually come around.

How to turn off your Ram remotely

Your engine will turn off if you don’t begin driving within 15 minutes of remotely starting your Ram’s engine. But if you change your mind about leaving the house, you can always turn it back off in the app. Simply click the stop (X icon) in the Uconnect app to perform the command.

Other Ram Uconnect features

“Your vehicle is never far away with the Uconnect app.” That’s how the connected services provider describes its myriad of features—and we tend to agree! Here are all the capabilities you’ll have right from your smartphone:
  • Driver rating reports
  • Roadside assistance requests
  • Remote vehicle start/stop
  • Remote lock/unlock
  • Send ‘n go smartphone navigation
  • Monthly vehicle health reports
  • Vehicle finder
  • Stolen vehicle locator
However, that's just what’s available in the app. The newly upgraded Uconnect 5 infotainment system enables in-truck access to more intuitive features ranging from safety and security to navigation and entertainment.

Is Ram’s remote start app free?

Technically, the Uconnect app is free to download. But a Uconnect Access subscription is required to enable remote commands, costing $14.99 per month or a discounted payment of $149.99 for a year's worth of access.

Which Ram vehicles have remote start?

The 2022 Ram truck lineup is the first to debut the next-generation Uconnect 5 infotainment system, which is required to utilize the Uconnect remote start app. This remote compatibility comes standard on the 2022
Ram 1500
,
2500
, and
3500
in all trims except the entry-level Tradesman and Tradesman HFE models.
Even if you’re not purchasing the latest and greatest 2022 Ram truck, early versions of Uconnect are available on select models from as early as 2014
And as a last resort, your Ram truck may offer a remote start feature through your key fob. As long as you're within range, push the remote start button (the circle) twice within five seconds to initiate the command.
Key Takeaway Ram trucks that are 2014 or newer may have the compatibility necessary for the Uconnect remote start app.
