background
To find a 2008 Honda Pilot radio code, check your glove box for a sticker or read the owner’s manual. Otherwise, you can remove the radio code by using the VIN and radio serial number. We’ll explain everything!
Your radio may stop working if your battery gets disconnected. Then, you’ll need a radio code to reactivate it. While this is a great tool for deterring thieves, it’s pretty annoying if you just want to listen to music while you drive.

Honda insurance costs
at the same time!

Why your 2008 Honda Pilot needs a radio code

Car radios are one of the most commonly stolen car parts. Once a car radio is disconnected, it won’t work without entering the radio code. Keeping the code separate from the radio is a great way to discourage thieves.
If you get routine electrical work done on your Pilot—or if you install a new battery—you will also need this radio code to reactivate the system. It can be a little confusing but thankfully Honda makes it easy.
Note that if you have a 2013 or 2014 Pilot, you do not need a code for system initiation! Instead, flip through your owner’s manual to the Radio/Navigation section to find instructions.

How to find your 2008 Honda Pilot radio code

Let’s start with the easiest possible technique: turn it on and off again. Seriously! Hold down the power button on the radio for several seconds. This is sufficient to reset the radio in some Hondas.
If this didn’t work, don’t panic. Look in your owner’s manual and in the glove box for a sticker that reads “Anti-Theft Radio Code.” The code should be five digits

How to look up a 2008 Honda Pilot radio code

If you couldn’t find the sticker, you still have options! The Honda radio code can be unlocked using the
VIN (vehicle identification number)
and the radio serial number.
The VIN is a 17-character code. It is printed on your insurance card and vehicle registration, but you can also find it on your Pilot at the base of the windshield on the driver’s side.
You will also need the radio serial code. Get ready for some tricky handiwork. Press down and hold the 1 and 6 preset buttons at the same time. Turn the ignition key to the 'ON' position while holding these buttons down. In a few seconds, a 10-digit serial number will show on the radio screen if you've done everything correctly. Make a note of it.
With the VIN and the serial number of the radio, you can get the code for your Honda radio. Try one of the following three options:
  • Using Honda’s
    online lookup tool
    , or
  • Calling 1-800-999-1009, or
  • Bringing your Honda to the nearest dealership
