2022 Dodge Charger vs 2022 Ford Mustang: specs

When it comes to the Charger vs the Mustang the specs between the two aren’t so wildly different including the fact that they’re both RWD, but there are a few key differences.
  • Performance
The 2022 Dodge Charger has a 5.7-liter V8 engine while the 2022 Ford Mustang has a 2.3-liter Turbo Inline-4. 
The horsepower and torque between the two are close, but not close enough, with the Charger pulling 370 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque and the Mustang getting 310 hp and 350 lb-feet.
The transmission on the Dodge Charger is an 8-speed automatic while the Mustang is a 6-speed manual, you can upgrade the Mustang to a 10-speed automatic but it’ll cost an additional $1,595.
  • Mpg
When it comes to mpg, neither of these cars are particularly fuel-efficient, but that’s not really the main thing people look for in a muscle car anyways. The Ford Mustang, however, does get a slightly better combined mpg at 29 mpg versus the Dodge Charger’s 19 mpg.

The Dodge Chager has more trims available than the Ford Mustang. The trims for the Charger include SXT RWD and AWD, GT RWD and AWD, Police RWD and AWD, R/T RWD, Scat Pack RWD, and Scat Pack Widebody RWD.
The Mustang’s available trims are EcoBoost Fastback and EcoBoost Premium Fastback.
Between the two trims being compared, the Police RWD and the EcoBoost Fastback, the Ford Mustang is cheaper with an MSRP of $27,470 while the Dodge Charger has an MSRP of $36,355.
  • Colors
Some standard colors for the 2022 Ford Mustang include Carbonized Gray Metallic, Eruption Green Metallic, Atlas Blue Metallic, Dark Matter Gray Metallic, and much more.
Standard colors for the 2022 Dodge Charger are Pitch Black Clearcoat, Torred Clearcoat, White Knuckle Clearcoat (bright white), and Bright Silver Metallic Clearcoat with the hang on parts being black with special police paints.
When it comes to the most color options available, the Charger takes the win. However, most of the color options available are not standard, while the Mustang has many that are and only a few that are optional.

When it comes to features both cars have relatively the same standard features, though, there are some that are optional or are altogether not available.
  • Standard features
Some of the most significant standard features on the Ford Mustang are Bluetooth connection, smart device integration, WiFi hotspot, AUX audio input, MP3 player, cloth bucket seats, a leather steering wheel, cruise control, keyless entry and start, and telematics.

  • Optional features
An optional feature of both vehicles is satellite radio. On the Ford Mustang, you have the choice of getting a navigation system and adaptive cruise control. On the Dodge Charger, you can get a power passenger seat.
  • Not available features
Now, this is where the differences between both vehicles can be truly noticed because both vehicles have unavailable features that are neither standard nor optional.
On the Dodge Charger, the features that are not available at all are a navigation system, WiFi hotspot, adaptive cruise control, and telematics.
When it comes to the Ford Mustang unavailable features include remote trunk release, power passenger and driver seats, and multi-zone A/C.

Which is the better buy?
