Find out if you’re getting ripped off on your car insurance in less than two minutes.

GEICO insurance is well-established and known for its broad array of insurance products, reasonable rates, and its spunky spokes-lizard mascot of a green gecko.
While you can continue to enjoy the escapades of the little green lizard on the commercials, you may decide to cancel GEICO insurance.
Whether that decision is spurred by finding cheaper car insurance or wanting to bundle your auto coverage with your non-GEICO homeowner’s policy, it is fairly simple to say goodbye to GEICO insurance. There are three ways to go about canceling GEICO insurance.

Cancel GEICO Insurance by picking up the phone

Dial 1-877-206-0215 to cancel GEICO insurance by phone. The phone system operates off of your voice prompts to direct you to the proper person. You will be asked things like what you want to do (“cancel auto policy”), your date of birth, and policy number. When it is clear you need to cancel GEICO insurance and your identity has been verified, you will be routed to an agent who can do this.

Cancel your GEICO policy from the website portal

Login to your online GEICO insurance account using your unique username and password, or follow the link to sign up for a new account using your policy number, date of birth, and mailing zip code.
Select the option to Add or Remove a Vehicle. From there, you can select the vehicle you wish to remove and confirm your choice to finalize the change. If all vehicles are removed from your policy, the entire policy is cancelled.

Cancel GEICO Insurance from the mobile app

The GEICO insurance app is available from Google Play for Android and iTunes for Apple iPhone, and uses the same login credentials as the website account portal. Open the GEICO app on your mobile device and log in if prompted.
You will be prompted to select a policy to manage, and press the one you want to cancel. Then, you can select the option to remove a vehicle or cancel your policy. Confirm your selection, and the change will be made.
Regardless of the method you choose to cancel GEICO insurance, it will go more smoothly if you have your policy number in hand. You might grab your insurance card out of your vehicle before you start or print your last invoice or statement. That way, you won’t have to stop what you’re doing to search out the information you need.
Procure other coverage for your vehicle before you cancel GEICO insurance. There are steep penalties like fines and even jail time for being caught driving without proper insurance, which can be even worse if you have an accident during a lapse in coverage.
