Our team at
Jerry
conducted a thorough study on car insurance, with information from 18,000 policyholders across all 50 states over 18 months. We asked drivers about their feelings toward their insurance companies, including their thoughts on claims processing, policy expenses, overall contentment, renewals, and more.

So, is Elephant Auto a good insurance company?

Yes, the majority of Elephant customers ranked the company highly overall.
With an overall satisfaction rating of 4.4/5, Elephant seems to be delivering results to its policyholders. In the customer reviews we received, 83% were positive and 8% were negative—and 60% of customers renewed their policies.
Note that Elephant car insurance coverage is only available to drivers in Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
The good: Elephant offers great customer service and easy renewals. Customers also appreciate:
  • Variety of insurance products (not just cars)
  • Unique legal coverage benefit
  • Great free perks
The other side: With low rankings for cost satisfaction and more complaints than the average insurance company (according to the NAIC, or National Association of Insurance Commissioners), Elephant may not be the right fit for every driver.
Elephant’s parent company Admiral Insurance Group has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
We asked our survey recipients to rate this insurance provider on affordability, claims handling, customer service, and renewal. Take a look at how Elephant's ratings stacked up against the national average:

Will Elephant Auto raise your rates?

Like all insurance companies, it’s possible that Elephant will raise your rates—but they can only do it
upon renewal of your policy
Here are a few factors that could lead to an increase in your rate with Elephant:
  • Recent violations or tickets
  • Recent accidents
  • Changing your address
  • Adding a new vehicle to your policy
  • Adding a new driver to your policy
  • General rise in prices due to inflation
Elephant’s customers rated the renewal process with an impressive 5/5, and 60% of them chose to renew their coverage.
Remember that companies can change their formula at any time. Your rate might change, even if your driving record has stayed the same.

Does Elephant Auto resolve claims fast?

We don’t have a ton of data on this, but the Elephant customers in our survey rated the company’s claims process 3.5/5.
Buying a policy is easy, but filing a claim and working with an adjuster can be stressful. Elephant earns the exact same rating as the national average in this category.

Elephant Auto car insurance discounts

One major perk that Elephant offers over its competitors is bundling. Because it offers multiple types of insurance, Elephant is able to offer discounts for bundling.
Here are a few more of the
insurance discounts
available:
  • Multi-car discount: You could save up to 46% off if you insure multiple vehicles in one household with Elephant.
  • Multi-policy discount
: The discount is up to 12% for bundling auto with home or renters insurance.
  • Homeowner: You can save money just by being a homeowner or condo owner, even if your home is not insured through Elephant.
  • Claim-free: If you have been accident-free for five years, you’ll earn this automatic discount.
  • Older driver: If you’re over 55 in IL, TN, and VA or over 60 in Ohio, you can claim this discount.
  • Good student discount: If you’re a full-time student with at least a B average and under the age of 25, you could score a discount. You can also earn this discount if the student on the policy is more than 100 miles from home and doesn’t have a vehicle.
  • Work from home: If you drive less, you’ll be charged less. Neat!
  • Pay in full
: Save up to 15% by paying upfront.
  • Go digital: Paperless billing saves about 3% and eSignatures can unlock a lot more savings.
Discounts can change frequently, so make sure to check with your Elephant agent about what’s currently available.

Elephant Auto coverage options

Elephant offers the standard
types of auto insurance coverage
, including:
  • Liability insurance
    : Drivers can buy
    bodily injury liability
    and
    property damage liability coverage
as required by their state to cover claims for other parties in at-fault car accidents.
  • Uninsured motorist/underinsured motorist coverage:
If the other driver's insurance can't pay enough to help you after a car crash, UM/UIM steps in to quickly help with paying for your medical bills and fixing your car.
  • Comprehensive coverage:
If your car gets stolen or damaged by things like fire, bad weather, or people, comprehensive coverage kicks in after you’ve paid the deductible.
  • Collision coverage:
Collision insurance helps pay to fix your car when it's been damaged in a crash, such as a multi-car accident, a guardrail scrape, or a rollover. Combine collision and comprehensive for what’s known as “full coverage.”
  • Personal injury protection (PIP):
(Required in no-fault states) This coverage helps pay for things like doctor bills, money you didn't earn because you couldn't work, and other costs related to your health and the health of the people in your car if you're in a car accident.
    MedPay
is also available, and medical payments covers slightly different things.

Elephant Auto’s additional tools and services

Beyond the basics, Elephant also offers:
But here’s the really impressive part—Elephant offers all its customers this suite of completely free perks:
  • Pet injury coverage: That’s $1,000 for vet bills if your dog or cat is injured in a covered accident. This includes two pets.
  • YourMechanic access: Elephant customers can book repair and diagnostic services at a reduced rate, with the option for contact-free repairs at your home or office.
  • Upgraded accident forgiveness: Go without an accident for three years and your next at-fault accident will be brushed under the rug. This upgrade means you get the benefits immediately, so long as you don’t have an accident on your recent record.
Car, homeowners insurance, and renters insurance are Elephant's primary products, but it also offers life insurance, condo, motorcycle insurance, umbrella, and off-road vehicle coverage.
