How much does Lexus ES car insurance cost?

Lexus ES drivers spend an average of $101 per month on state minimum car insurance coverage and $198 per month for full coverage insurance. Compared to cars like the
Mazda
CX-30
,
Subaru
Ascent
, and
Acura
RDX
, the Lexus ES is 3% more expensive to insure.
But it’s important to remember that there is no ‘fixed’ average rate—car insurance rates constantly fluctuate due to changes in driver profiles and insurer criteria. Factors ranging from your vehicle's model year and trim level to your driving history and location all influence insurance costs.
To find the cheapest car insurance rate for your Lexus, you’ll want to shop around and compare quotes before settling on a policy.

Compare the cheapest Lexus ES car insurance quotes

While shopping around and comparing auto insurance quotes is the best way to save, requesting individual quotes from providers isn’t conducive to time—that’s why
Jerry
exists.
As an independent broker and
car insurance price comparison tool
, Jerry makes insurance shopping simple. Once you create a profile in the app, Jerry pulls the most competitive quotes from our pool of top insurers. Check out the table below for real, free quotes Lexus owners found shopping with Jerry.

Keep in mind that insurance rates vary, even for identical cars. Besides your driving record, age, and location, insurers also look at your Lexus model year, trim level, and repair costs to calculate your insurance premium. If you want to maximize savings for Lexus ES car insurance without sacrificing coverage,
compare quotes
from at least three different insurance companies before deciding.

The best car insurance companies for Lexus ES owners

Car insurance rates are highly personalized and as unique as every driver, which means no car insurance company will be the right fit for every Lexus ES driver. And because every insurance company uses a slightly different set of rating factors to
calculate your auto insurance premiums
, quotes will vary between companies.
Thanks to Jerry, we’ve made shopping for the best company easy. We conducted the largest nationwide insurance shopping survey to find the best insurance companies. Insurance companies like
GEICO
and
State Farm
received high customer service ratings, while others, such as
Travelers
and
Safeco
achieved higher policy cost scores.

How'd we get these scores?

Jerry's experts conducted one of the largest car insurance surveys in the United States. We surveyed 15,000 policyholders, in all 50 states, over the span of 18 months. These policyholders hold insurance policies with 87 different insurance companies. We surveyed policyholders to gauge their satisfaction with their insurance carriers in: policy cost, customer service, buying and renewal experience, as well as claim experience. These scores were all reported by real customers of the insurance companies.

How much car insurance do you need for a Lexus ES?

When shopping for car insurance, it can be difficult to determine how much coverage you will need—especially when Lexus insurance costs can vary so distinctly. To find the right coverage for you, start by comparing the two basic types of insurance policies:
CarAverage Full Coverage Insurance CostAverage State Minimum Insurance Cost
Lexus ES
$198
$101
While the state minimum is the cheaper option overall, it may cost you more in the long run. If you cause severe damages or injuries to another driver in an accident, your insurance will only cover up to your policy limits—once your limits are maxed out, you’re on the hook for any remaining charges, leaving you financially vulnerable.

Why are some trims more expensive to insure than others?

Insurance premiums are calculated partly based on a vehicle's repair and replacement costs. The higher the costs to repair or replace a car in the event of an accident, the more they are to insure—as is the case with a luxury car like a Lexus.
Similarly, safety features and ratings also influence rates. Insurers consider vehicle safety ratings from experts like the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and Highway (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) when calculating rates to determine risk levels.

A new car typically comes with higher insurance costs. That’s because new vehicles, especially luxury vehicles, have a higher value and more tech features that increase the cost of repairing or replacing them in the event of a collision.

When calculating insurance rates, carriers look at factors like MSRP, trim level, model year, and repair costs. Because these factors differ between cars, insurance rates will reflect these differences. It’s also important to note that car insurance rates tend to be higher for hybrid electric cars due to higher repair and replacement costs.

What other factors affect Lexus ES insurance rates?

Insurance rates are calculated
based on several rating factors, but your age (driving experience) and driving record hold the most weight. Insurers also consider your location, annual mileage, insurance and claims history, and credit score, among others.

Lexus ES insurance cost for young drivers

Driver age has one of the biggest impacts on car insurance premiums.
Teen drivers
aged 16 to 19 face some of the highest insurance rates of any age group. Because young (and new) drivers have limited experience on the road, they’re at a higher risk of being in a collision and are, therefore, a higher risk to insurers.
After 25, insurance rates for young drivers typically start to decline, assuming a good driver with a clean record. Here are some of the rates teens found for their Lexus ES with Jerry.

Lexus ES insurance cost for senior drivers

Middle-aged and senior drivers generally enjoy the cheapest insurance rates, but they don’t stay forever. Senior drivers in their mid-60s and beyond see increasing insurance rates for two reasons: reflexes become slower, which increases the risk of a collision, and increased fragility leads to a higher vulnerability of severe injury if involved in an accident. As a result,
car insurance rates for seniors
65+ are higher.
Thankfully, seniors can continue to save with Jerry.

Lexus ES insurance cost for drivers with driving violations

Apart from age, your driving record is one of the biggest influences on insurance rates. Drivers with a history of accidents and moving violations will pay higher insurance rates due to being a higher risk to the insurer. On the other hand, drivers with
clean driving records
will enjoy some of the lowest rates.
Some of the most common driving violations that can increase auto insurance rates include:

Cheapest car insurance for Lexus ES drivers with speeding ticket

Insurance rate increases will vary based on the severity of the offense. For example, a speeding ticket for driving 5 mph over the posted limit will affect your premium less than a ticket for going 20 mph over. But if you are cited for reckless driving, expect your rates to go through the roof.
Luckily, Jerry can help you find the most affordable rates regardless of whether you have a speeding ticket or a clean driving record.

Cheapest car insurance for Lexus ES drivers with a DUI record

A DUI conviction on your driving record is a major red flag to insurers. Driving under the influence classifies you as a high-risk driver, which means more costly for an insurer. As a result, you’ll pay rates significantly higher than drivers without a DUI.
It’s also important to note that some insurers will deny coverage to high-risk drivers. But the best way to find the most affordable rate with a DUI on your record is to compare quotes from different providers using an app like Jerry.

Cheapest car insurance for Lexus ES drivers after an accident

Accidents don’t always increase insurance rates, but at-fault ones usually do. As with a DUI and speeding, an accident signals to insurers you’re a risky driver—and thus, a risky policyholder, which means higher insurance rates.
If you were recently involved in an at-fault accident and feel you’re overpaying for insurance, shop around and compare rates to find the cheapest option—like these Lexus ES drivers did.

How can I lower the cost of insurance for my car?

If you think you’re overpaying for Lexus ES car insurance, don’t panic. Here are some shopping strategies to help lower your monthly payments and save.
  • Shop around: If you want the best car insurance rate, don’t settle for the first one you get. Use Jerry to shop the most competitive quotes from different providers to narrow down the best coverage level at the best price. To ensure you always stay on top of the cheapest rate, shop around every six months to see if a better rate is available.
  • Raise your deductible: Your
    car insurance deductible
is the amount of money you must pay upfront before your collision or comprehensive coverage kicks in. Increasing your deductible to the highest amount you can afford to pay out of pocket will help reduce your monthly payments.
  • Look for discounts:
    Car insurance discounts
are an easy way to save. Some offer savings for good drivers, while others offer discounts for vehicles with added safety features, such as airbags and anti-lock brakes. All insurers offer them, but what’s available will vary based on your location and the insurance carrier.
  • Bundle your insurance policies: Insurance companies love customer loyalty.
Bundle your homeowners and auto insurance
(or auto and renters insurance) with the same insurance provider, and you could save on your total premium. Similarly, a multi-vehicle policy can also earn you a discount.

Methodology

The Insurance Research Team analyzes insurance products and services to drive insights and help consumers make informed purchase decisions.
Insurance research: We analyzed over 25 million car insurance quotes; conducted the largest insurance shopping survey (over 15,000 customers surveyed and 85 carriers reviewed in the past 18 months).
We surveyed insurance policyholders for their experience with their insurers in the following areas: (1) insurance cost (2) customer service (3) insurance buying experience (4) insurance renewal experience (5) claim experience. In addition, we asked people what they like about their insurers and what areas in which their insurers could improve. The driver characteristics used in calculating average rates for auto insurance include: single driver, single car, currently insured, clean driving record.
