Finding the best insurance company to suit every Lexus driver’s needs is an impossible task, considering the numerous factors that influence rates. It’s no wonder that shopping for car insurance can be overwhelming for so many car owners.

To provide some guidance, Jerry conducted a survey to gather insights from Lexus drivers about their firsthand experiences with insurance companies, including popular providers like Allstate.

How’d we get these scores?

Jerry’s experts conducted one of the largest car insurance surveys in the United States. We surveyed 15,000 policyholders, in all 50 states, over the span of 18 months. These policyholders hold insurance policies with 87 different insurance companies. We surveyed policyholders to gauge their satisfaction with their insurance carriers in: policy cost, customer service, buying and renewal experience, as well as claim experience. These scores were all reported by real customers of the insurance companies.

Several factors come into play when determining insurance rates for your Lexus, including:

  • Safety features: Lexus models with advanced safety features, such as the Lexus UX, NX, and RX (IIHS Top Safety Pick+ winners), may have lower insurance costs due to being assessed as lower risk.
  • Vehicle value: Luxury Lexus models like the Lexus LS or Lexus LX tend to have higher insurance premiums due to their higher price tags. More affordable models like the Lexus ES 350 or NX may come with relatively lower insurance costs.
  • Vehicle class: SUVs generally have slightly higher insurance costs compared to sedans. Factors like size, weight, and safety features of the specific model can influence insurance premiums.
  • Engine size: Lexus vehicles with more powerful engines, such as the Lexus RC F, Lexus LC, or Lexus LS 500, may have higher insurance premiums due to the increased risk associated with their performance capabilities.
  • Availability of replacement parts: Newer Lexus models typically have readily available replacement parts which can help keep insurance prices in check. However, older or less common Lexus models may require rarer parts, potentially leading to higher premiums.
  • Cost of repairs: Luxury cars often have higher repair costs due to their advanced features, sophisticated technology, and premium materials. These higher repair costs can contribute to increased insurance premiums.

Check out the table below to see the average cost of auto insurance for some popular Lexus models.

What insurance coverage do you need for your Lexus?

Minimum coverage insurance is the minimum amount of car insurance coverage required in your state, designed to protect other motorists in case of an accident where you’re at fault. It typically includes basic liability insurance, including bodily injury and property damage liability, but the limits are relatively low.

On the other hand, full-coverage insurance provides a greater level of protection and includes both collision and comprehensive coverage. In the event of an accident, it not only helps cover the costs of damages to your own vehicle but also provides financial assistance for injuries and damages sustained by other vehicles and passengers involved in the accident.

If you’re leasing or financing your Lexus, gap insurance is worth considering. It covers the difference between the actual cash value of your vehicle and the remaining balance on your lease or loan in the event of a total loss. This can help prevent you from being financially responsible for the “gap” between the insurance payout and your outstanding balance.

Note that the cost of insurance is influenced by various factors including your driving history, location, and more. Shopping for personalized insurance quotes will provide the most accurate information than relying on average figures.

What factors affect Lexus car insurance rates?

Several factors contribute to the calculation of car insurance premiums, including:

  • Vehicle cost: Luxury, high-performance, and sports cars typically have higher insurance costs for collision and comprehensive coverage due to their higher value and specialized features.
  • Vehicle age: Newer car models, especially those with advanced technology and higher market value, may result in higher insurance premiums compared to older models.
  • Cost of parts: Vehicles with expensive or less common parts can incur higher replacement and repair costs, posing greater risks for insurance companies.
  • Your age: Younger drivers, typically those under 25, often face higher insurance rates due to their limited driving experience. Senior drivers above the age of 70 may also encounter increased insurance rates.
  • Credit score: Your personal rate may be higher or lower depending on factors such as the model year, type of vehicle, location, and even your credit score. A higher credit score often correlates with lower insurance premiums.
  • Your driving record and claims history: Insurance companies generally offer lower rates to drivers with a clean driving record. Individuals with a history of car accidents, tickets, and driving violations usually face higher rates.
  • Location: Insurance costs vary based on where you keep your car, as factors such as road conditions, population density, theft rates, and other risk factors differ between zip codes.

Here are a few factors that influence auto insurance rates for Lexus vehicles:

  • Imports: Lexus vehicles are imported, which can lead to higher replacement costs compared to domestic models, affecting insurance rates.
  • Safety: Lexus is well-known for its commitment to safety, often earning excellent safety ratings across its vehicle lineup. This focus on safety can positively impact insurance rates.
  • Reliability: Lexus cars are renowned for their reliability and durability. With a lower rate of claims for these vehicles, insurance rates may be influenced positively.
  • Availability: Lexus is a popular brand, which typically results in cheaper and more accessible parts. The availability of affordable replacement parts can contribute to more reasonable insurance rates.

Lexus insurance cost for young drivers

Teen drivers aged 16 to 19 face the highest insurance rates across all driver age groups. For young drivers who own a Lexus, obtaining full coverage is essential due to their higher accident rate compared to more experienced drivers.

Lexus insurance cost for senior drivers

As drivers enter their mid-70s, car insurance rates tend to increase. Senior drivers are considered more susceptible to accidents, which contributes to higher insurance costs. Additionally, the potential for severe injuries in the event of a collision leads to significant medical expenses, ultimately resulting in higher car insurance rates for seniors.

Lexus insurance cost for drivers with driving violations

Insurance costs for Lexus vehicles also depend on your driving record. Lexus drivers without violations or at-fault accidents enjoy the lowest rates. However, if you have any of the following on your record within the last three to five years, you may face a surcharge on your coverage.

  • Speeding tickets
  • DUIs
  • At-fault accidents
  • Reckless driving
  • Driving on a suspended license
  • Cheapest car insurance for Lexus drivers with speeding ticket

While a single ticket for exceeding the speed limit by a small margin may not significantly impact your Lexus insurance premiums, multiple tickets or a serious speeding offense could lead to increased rates. Jerry takes pride in assisting Lexus drivers with different types of speeding tickets on their record to find affordable car insurance options.

How can I lower the cost of my Lexus car insurance?

There are several strategies to help lower the cost of insuring a Lexus vehicle.

  • Shop around: Shop around for insurance coverage and compare quotes from different insurance companies. Jerry simplifies this process by collecting free quotes from over 50 top insurance companies within minutes. Jerry can even assist you in purchasing your new policy and canceling your old one.
  • Choose a model wisely: When purchasing a new Lexus, research insurance rates for different models in advance. Opting for a used SUV instead of a flashy new car loaded with amenities can result in significant savings on insurance costs.
  • Bundle your policies: Consider bundling your home and auto insurance with the same insurer. This can lead to a reduced overall bill by taking advantage of multi-policy discounts.
  • Adjust coverage for older cars: If you own an older Lexus vehicle, consider reducing coverage to lower your insurance bill. This approach is particularly beneficial if the car’s value is less than 10 times the premium you’re paying.
  • Increase your deductible: By opting for a higher deductible, you can lower your monthly insurance payments. Keep in mind that a higher deductible means you’ll be responsible for a larger out-of-pocket amount in the event of a claim.
