If you're establishing residency in a new state, you must change your license and registration.
Moving to live and work—even temporarily: If you plan to establish residency and work in another state (i.e., you don't have a permanent address elsewhere), you're legally required to update your information.
Attending school in another state: If you're enrolled in school, you can keep your family's home address as your permanent address. Insurance companies have policies to accommodate students who attend school out of state.
