How long does it take to receive a driving license?

I recently passed my driving test and got my license, but they gave me a paper ID at the DMV. How long does it take to receive my plastic driving license card?

It takes up to 15 business days—or three weeks—for you to receive your plastic driving license by mail in most states.
Keep in mind: Most states have adopted a graduated licensing program that requires drivers to first apply for and drive with a learner’s permit for at least 12 months before applying for a full license.
Drivers under 16 will likely have restricted driving privileges, even after graduating from a learner’s permit to a license. Most states remove restrictions at the age of 18 and grant a full license at 21.
In the meantime: Keep your permit and your paper license with you while you’re on the road, and follow any restrictions in place on your driving privileges. Your paper license will prove that you can legally operate a vehicle, but it does not provide identification like a plastic driver’s license with a photograph does.
