How can I check the remaining balance on my car loan?

I’ve been paying my car loan for a while now and I’m not sure, but I think I’m coming up on the last few months. How can I check the balance on my loan?

To check the remaining balance on your car loan, you can use one of these methods:
  • Through your lender: If you have an online account set up with your lender, log in to check your loan details, including the current balance, your payment history, and your loan term. You can also contact the lender directly and speak to a representative. If you want to pay your loan off sooner, you can also request a payoff quote.
  • Through your loan statements: Whether you’re receiving your loan statements electronically or via mail, you’ll be able to see your loan balance here (as of the statement date), and it’s also possible the loan payoff date will be listed here, too.
  • Through a loan balance calculator: Many financial sites offer free loan calculator tools that will ask you for your overall loan amount, your interest rate, and your loan period. From here, you can do some simple math to count back to when you started your loan. This will help you estimate how much longer you may have to go.
