What does the ECO driving indicator mean?

I recently got a new (to me) car and noticed a light on the dash I’d never seen before that said “ECO.” What does it mean when the ECO driving indicator is on?

The ECO light is nothing to worry about—in fact, it’s a good thing! Basically, the ECO light tells drivers that they’re getting the most bang for their buck when it comes to gas consumption. This can lead to less fuel consumption, saving you money and reducing emissions.
In certain vehicles, the ECO mode means that various systems in the car will be tuned to reduce the amount of energy your car uses. Of course, the ECO indicator will mean different things on different vehicles, so be sure to consult your driver’s manual to know what it means for your car.
The ECO light is a good thing, but it’s okay if you don’t see it all the time—it’s normal for it to go off when you’re speeding up or slowing down to adjust to road conditions. Always try to match the speed of traffic before focusing on ECO mode.
