How much does Dodge Ram car insurance cost?

The average Dodge Ram driver will spend $89 per month on state minimum car insurance and $145 per month on full coverage. That makes the Dodge Ram about 6% more expensive to insure compared to other popular vehicles like the Hyundai Elantra, Acura RSX, and Jeep Gladiator.

However, it’s important to note that your Dodge Ram insurance costs may not be the same as the average. That’s because your auto insurance rates depend on your driver profile. Things like your vehicle’s trim level to its model year can have a big impact on your premium.

The only way to find out the real price of your car insurance is to compare auto insurance quotes from various car insurance companies.

Keep in mind that your vehicle model isn’t the only thing that will impact your car insurance; factors like your driving record, zip code, and insurance history will change your quote, as will your vehicle’s model year, trim level, and safety features.

Curious about quotes for your Dodge Ram? If so, it’s a good idea to start by getting car insurance quotes from at least three insurance companies to compare.

The best car insurance companies for Dodge Ram owners

While it would be easier if there was one insurance company with the best rates for all Dodge Ram owners, the truth is your quote will vary from provider to provider. Every insurance provider uses a slightly different algorithm to calculate your premiums, and you might see a lot of variation in rates.

To help drivers get started, Jerry conducted the largest survey in the nation, asking 15,000 real policyholders about their experience with their current provider. Here are the results:

How’d we get these scores?

Jerry’s experts conducted one of the largest car insurance surveys in the United States. We surveyed 15,000 policyholders, in all 50 states, over the span of 18 months. These policyholders hold insurance policies with 87 different insurance companies. We surveyed policyholders to gauge their satisfaction with their insurance carriers in: policy cost, customer service, buying and renewal experience, as well as claim experience. These scores were all reported by real customers of the insurance companies.

How much car insurance do you need for a Dodge Ram?

State minimum coverage costs about $89 per month for the average Dodge Ram driver, while full coverage is closer to $145. However, your personalized quotes might look a lot different depending on factors like model year, trim level, driving history, and your desired coverage levels.

These averages are a great starting point as you begin searching for the right insurance policy for you. The best way to shop for insurance, however, is by getting personalized quotes. That’s why Jerry is designed to help you find multiple quotes from top insurance providers in a matter of minutes.

Why are some trims more expensive to insure than others?

Vehicles with premium trim levels are typically more expensive to insure due to higher repair and replacement costs. The Dodge Ram 1500, for example, will be less expensive to insure than the Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie as a result of their trim levels.

Check out the following table for more data on the average cost of auto insurance for the Dodge Ram at various trim levels.

Are Dodge Rams expensive to insure?

So, what makes these other vehicles more or less expensive to insure? Insurance companies take a lot of things into consideration when determining your auto insurance rates, including your vehicle’s MSRP, trim level, model year, and average cost of repairs.

What other factors affect Dodge Ram insurance rates?

There are a lot of things that can impact your car insurance rate, including:

  • The type of vehicle you drive: Collision and comprehensive coverage are both more expensive for luxury, high-performance, and sports vehicles.
  • Your age: Drivers under 25 and drivers over 75 will often see higher insurance rates due to increased risk levels.
  • Your driving record and claims history: Drivers with a lot of accidents or tickets on their record will typically face higher insurance rates.

Dodge Ram insurance cost for young drivers

Drivers between the ages of 16 and 19 will pay the highest insurance rates of any age group. That’s because teen drivers pose a higher risk to auto insurance companies. That said, it’s best to get the financial security that comes with full coverage insurance if you have a teenager with a newer vehicle, as the likelihood of getting into an accident is higher.

Dodge Ram insurance cost for senior drivers

Insurance rates start to rise again later in life, after drivers turn 65. Older adults are more likely to get into accidents and more likely to suffer severe injuries as a result, meaning car insurance rates for seniors are typically higher.

Dodge Ram insurance cost for drivers with driving violations

If you’ve recently been charged with a driving violation, your car insurance rates may have gone up. Insurance companies view drivers with a spotty record as higher risk and therefore charge a higher rate.

Some violations that could increase your insurance rate include:

  • Speeding
  • DUIs
  • Being at fault in an accident
  • Reckless driving
  • Driving on a suspended license

Cheapest car insurance for Dodge Ram drivers with speeding ticket

If you’re worried that your speeding ticket(s) might be increasing your car insurance rates, try not to panic. There are varying degrees of speeding, and lower degrees have a much smaller impact on your car insurance rates. Speeding 1-5 MPH over the limit, for example, won’t usually raise your rates as much as speeding 21+ MPH over the limit.

If you’ve got some tickets on your record, Jerry is here. We’re proud to help Dodge Ram drivers save on car insurance after receiving a speeding ticket.

How can I lower the cost of insurance for my car?

You can try a few different things to lower your car insurance.

  • Shop around: One of the best ways to find a better rate on your auto insurance is to shop around for quotes from multiple providers. This is a quick and simple task when you use a tool like Jerry, where you can compare quotes from dozens of top providers in a matter of minutes.
  • Raise your deductible: A higher car insurance deductible translates to a lower insurance bill each month. Remember though, in the event of an accident you’ll need to pay your deductible out-of-pocket before your insurance coverage kicks in, so don’t lower it to the point that you can’t afford to pay it.
  • Bundle your insurance policies: Many insurance companies will allow you to bundle your homeowners and auto insurance at a discounted rate.
  • Research discounts: Most insurers offer discounts of various kinds—such as discounts for drivers with a clean driving record or good grade point average—but you might not always see them advertised. Try asking your provider about discount options for your policy.
